Abstract

A motorised caravan having a main body, the main body being provided with an L shaped seating arrangement, with a first part of the L, figures 1 through 4 extending along one side of the motor caravan, and a second part of the L extending partially across the width of the motor caravan, the arrangement being such that the first part of the L, figures 1 through 4 may be repositioned in use, so that substantially the second part of the L may be used as forward facing seating and the first part of the L can form rear facing seating. The first part of the seating can include a cushion (5), a base unit 1, frame 2, locking catch 4 and rotation mechanism 3.

Description

1. A motorised caravan having a main body, the main body being provided with an L shaped seating arrangement, with a first part of the L extending along one side of the motor caravan, and a second part of the L extending partially across the width of the motor caravan, the arrangement being such that the first part of the L may be repositioned in use, so that substantially the second part of the L may be used as forward facing seating.
2. A motorised caravan as claimed in claim I wherein the first part of the L may be substantially rotated in use, so that substantially the second part of the L may be used as forward facing seating.
3. A motorised caravan as claimed in claims 1 and 2, wherein the first part of an L shaped seating arrangement may be moved in use, so that substantially the first part of the L may be used as rearward facing seating.
4. A motorised caravan as claimed in claims I through 3 wherein the first part of an L shaped seat comprises a pivofing under-frame and a movable seat cushion base.
5. A motorised caravan as claimed in claim 4 wherein the pivoting underframe comprises a fixed part and a movable part.
6. A motorised caravan as claimed in claim 5 wherein there is a rotating joint between the fixed part & the movable part of the pivoting underframe.
7. A motorised caravan as claimed in claims 5 and 6 wherein the fixed part of the pivoting under-frame is secured directly or indirectly by means to the floor or to any other structurally suitable member of the motor caravan.
8. A motorised caravan as claimed in claims 5 through 7 wherein the pivoting under-frame rotating joint comprises a joint which may be fixed or movable or detachable.
9. A motorised caravan as claimed in claim 8 wherein the movable or detachable pivoting under-frame rotating joint comprises a location fitting in at least one of a position that is essentially parallel with the longitudinal axis of the motor caravan and a position that is essentially perpendicular with the longitudinal axis of the motor caravan.
10. A motorised caravan as claimed in claims 4 through 8 wherein the rotating joint includes a catch means to selectively prevent rotation.

Claims (1)

  1. S
    11. A motorised caravan as claimed in claim 10 wherein the catch means comprises a spring return pawl locating into at least one locking slot.
    12. A motorised caravan as claimed in claim 4 wherein the interfacing joint between the pivoting under-frame and the movable seat cushion base is such that one locates into the other to provide a stable assembly for seating.
    13. A motorised caravan as claimed in claims I through 12 wherein the first part of the L comprises a seat with or without back support and with or without arm support.
    14. A motorised caravan constructed & arranged substantially as herein described, with reference to the accompanying drawings.
Amendments to the claiis have been filed as follows 1. A motorised caravan having a main body, the main body being provided with an L shaped seating arrangement, with a first part of the L extending along one side of the motorised caravan, and a second part of the L extending partially across the width of the motorised caravan, the arrangement being such that the first part of the L may be repositioned in use, so that substantially the second part of the L may be used as forward facing seating.
    2. A motorised caravan as claimed in claim I wherein the first part of the L may be substantially rotated in use, so that substantially the second part of the L may be used as forward facing seating.
    3. A motorised caravan as claimed in claims I and 2, wherein the first part of an L shaped seating arrangement may be moved in use, so that substantially the first part of the L may be used as rearward facing seating.
    4. A motorised caravan as claimed in claims I through 3 wherein the first part of an L shaped seat comprises a pivoting under-frame and a movable seat cushion base.
    5. A motorised caravan as claimed in claim 4 wherein the pivoting underframe comprises a fixed part and a movable part.
    6. A motorised caravan as claimed in claim 5 wherein there is a rotating joint between the fixed part & the movable part of the pivoting underframe.
7 A motorised caravan as claimed in claim 6 wherein the rotating joint pivots about a fixed axis.
8 A motorised caravan as claimed in claims 6 and 7 wherein the underframe is rectangular in plan view.
9 A motorised caravan as claimed in claim 4 wherein the movable seat cushion base is rectangular in plan view.
A motorised caravan as claimed in claims 6 through 8 wherein the measurement in plan view between the rotating joint axis and any part of the under-frame of the first part of the L is shorter in distance than the shortest distance in plan view between the said rotating joint axis and the nearest part of the second part of the L so that the under-frame of the first part of the L can pivot without colliding with any part of the second part of the L. 11. A motorised caravan as claimed in claims 6 through 8 wherein the measurement in plan view between the rotating joint axis and any part of the under-frame of the first part of the L is of a sufficiently small dimension as to allow the said under-frame to pivot between a position extending along one side of the motorised caravan and a position extending partially across the width of the motorised caravan.
    12. A motorised caravan as claimed in claims 5 and 11 wherein the fixed part of the pivoting under-frame is secured directly or indirectly by means to the floor or to any other structurally suitable member of the motor caravan.
