Abstract
A bag 2, which may be made from various materials, is used to cover a stirrup iron whilst attached to the saddle 1 but not in use. An iron is placed in the bag and the open top 4 of the bag drawn together using elastic, drawstring, hook and loop tape or stud fasteners. Two bags, one for each iron, may be connected by a strap 3 which would stretch over the top of the saddle. The bags serve to prevent the stirrup irons from dirtying or damaging the leather of the saddle when the irons are "pushed up" the stirrup leathers 6 after riding. The bags may be made into novelty shapes.

STIRRIIFP COVER.
This invention relates to bags which cover horse stirrup irons.
Stirrup irons are connected to a saddle by means of stirrup leather straps. The rider uses these stirrup irons to mount the horse and during riding, the feet are supported by these stirrup irons The invention will now be described by way of example and with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: Figure 1 shows saddle with stirrup irons attached and pushed up leather straps.
Figure 2 shows saddle with stirrup irons attached and covered by the bag.
Figure 3 shows the two bags attached to each other by a strap.
Figure 1, while not in use, the stirrup irons 5 are pushed up the leather straps 6 and held in position against either side of the saddle 1. This can cause marks to appear on the saddle 1 due to the stirrup irons 5 rubbing against it. After riding, the stirrup irons 5 are often covered in dirt, which also causes damage to the saddle 1. By having bags 2 to place the stirrup irons 5 in, the damage would be minimised.
The bags 2 could be made to draw in at the tpto keep secure. They could also be secured at the top 4 by stud fasteners or VelcrcThey could be attached by a joining strap 3 so that they can be kept together and hung up while not in use. An opening could be made at the bottom of the bag 2 for the leather straps 6 to slip through. Theoining) strap 3 should be long enough to reach over top of saddle 1. The bags 2 can be made from several different types of material For example fleece, neoprene, nylon, cotton or leather.
The bags 2 could be made open on the sides for ease of putting over the stirrup irons.
They could also be personalised to suit each individual and made into novelty shapes or characters.
Claims (6)
1. A bag to cover a horse stirrup iron which could be made from several different types of material.
2. A bag as stated in claim lwhich is closed at the top by elastic, drawstring, Velcro?r stud fasteners.
3. A bag as stated in claim I which is attached to an identical bag by means of a strap or string.
4 A bag as stated in claim 1 which will keep saddle clean and minimise damage.
A bag as stated in claim lwhich can be used for storage of stirrup irons.
6. A bag as stated in claim I that has side openings for ease of putting over stirrup irons.
7 A bag as stated in claim I that could be made into a novelty shape or character.
