Abstract
A lighter is combined with a memory storage unit to provide a single portable device. The lighter includes a body 4 in which the memory may be stored, and an ignition system 5 through which fuel can be released and burnt. The lighter may also include a fuel refill valve (3 fig 1), which may be placed at any convenient location on the body, and a spark ignition means such as a flint and wheel or an electric system, such as a piezoelectric system. The lighter may also include a connector for the memory unit, protected by a lid 1, for example, a USB type connector. The USB connector may be used to connect and transfer data between the memory storage and a computer. The lighter also includes an LED 6 which illuminates when the device is connected to the computer, and a write protection switch 7. The lighter may be made of any suitable material such as metal, plastic, wood, etc, and the memory storage device may be termed a flash drive.
Description
LIGHTER WITH EMBEDDED MEMORY STORAGE DEVICE
The invention relates to a lighter that contains a portable memory storage unit.
Lighters are common portable objects and memory storage devices (such as memory sticks or flash drives) are becoming the most common means of storing data. Because they both are portable objects, having both in one single object would be practical and convenient especially for smokers.
The purpose of this invention is to provide both a lighter and a memory stick in a single object that can be carried at all times saving space in one's pocket.
Accordingly, this invention provides both a heat source originated from a lighter and a device that can be used to transfer data from (or to) a computer.
The invention can be made of metal, plastic, wood or any suitable material. The flame can be obtained burning any suitable fuel and the spark can be produced by a piezoelectric system, an electric system, or any other system (e.g. flint stone and roller). Alternatively, the heat source can be a resistor connected to a battery inside the device. The memory storage unit can be of any size and can be connected to a computer or any other similar device through a suitable plug (e.g. USB plug).
A preferred embodiment of the invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: FIGURE 1 shows a frontal view of the whole invention; FIGURE 2 shows a rear view of the whole invention.
As shown in figure 1, the invention is composed of a body (4) in which both memory and fuel are stored, a plug 2 used to connect the device to a computer and a lid 1 used to protect the plug when not used. The fuel is inserted inside the device through the valve 3 that can be placed anywhere on the device.
Figure 2 shows the same device from a different point of view. The LED 6 indicates when the device is connected to a computer by lighting up. Through the ignition system 5 the fuel can be released and burnt. A small writing protection switch 7 can be present. n
