Abstract
A vehicle seat cover intended essentially for temporary use in the front or rear passenger seat covering the seat and footwell. A fabric such as one that is waterproof is used to prevent dirt and or moisture transfer from passengers and from the outer garments of passengers to the vehicle seat and footwell. An opening 1 in the vehicle seat cover facilitates attachment to the vehicle seat and incorporates the use of the headrest, and / or any type of releasable fastening and / or the vehicle seat itself. A further attachment of fabric 3 to the bottom of the vehicle seat cover can provide a permanent or removable leg covering. A pocket suitable for personal items is situated on the leg covering. The car seat cover can be folded for storage in a bag.
Description
STATEMENT OF INVENTION AND ADVANTAGES
The invention relates to a vehicle seat cover for the protection of dirt and or moisture transfer, to be used in particular though not exclusively in domestic vehicle passenger seats, both front and rear.
The situation frequently arises when transporting a passenger in a vehicle whose person and or outer garments have been contaminated with dirt and or moisture.
To have a permanent vehicle seat cover is unnecessary for general use of the vehicle because most passengers are not contaminated with dirt and or moisture, the requirement for a protective covering is therefore unnecessary.
In an attempt to address this problem vehicle seat covers are known - they tend to be of permanent or semi permanent nature and time consuming to fit and do not protect the footwell from dirt and or moisture transfer.
The present invention aims at addressing the above problem to provide a temporary and quick and easy to install vehicle seat cover.
This vehicle seat cover can be quickly installed and will protect the seat and vehicle footwell from dirt and or moisture transfer. It can be folded and kept in a storage bag and stowed in the vehicle ready for use when required.
This vehicle seat cover can also be used to protect the passenger from dirt and or moisture transfer from a dirty or wet car interior.
This vehicle seat cover can be sponged clean, hand or machine washed. TiTLE

DESCRIPTION
The invention will now be described in greater detail though only by way of example, reference being made to the accompanying drawings.
According to this invention, there is provided an essentially temporary vehicle seat cover for the prevention of dirt and or moisture transfer to the vehicle seat and footwell.
The vehicle seat cover is in general rectangle of suitable length and width of any fabric to cover and protect the vehicle seat and footwell, the preferred fabric for this invention is waterproof figure 1(2).
An opening at the top end of the fabric facilitates attachment of the vehicle seat cover to the vehicle seat with the use of the headrest and / or any type of releasable fastening and / or the vehicle seat itself figure 1(1) -connection means provided to secure vehicle seat cover in place during use.
To minimise dirt and or moisture transfer there could be an attached fabric leg covering, made from the same or different fabric to the main cover. figure 1 (3) This leg covering could be attached to the bottom of the car seat cover by permanent e.g. stitching or any type of releasable fastening, it could be secured over legs and be attached to the main part of the vehicle seat cover by any type of releasable fastening, the preferred choice being VelcroRTM.
For the orage ofpersonalitem&there could be a pocket attached to the leg covering which could beseeuid closed by any type of releasable fastening. figure 1 (4) I3 The vehicle seat cover of this invention has been designed so it can be fitted quickly and easily and folded for storage in a bag of any fabric, the preferred choice being net, figure 2 (2) this bag could be closed by any type of releasable fastening, the preferred choice being drawstring.figure 2 (1) The vehicle seat cover can be cleaned by sponging or washing by hand or machine.
The main body of the vehicle seat cover and the leg covering and the storage bag could carry the logo of a company, brand or sports team and so on - many other possibilities will spring to mind of those skilled in art.
This vehicle seat cover can also be used to protect the passenger from dirt and or moisture transfer from a dirty or wet car interior.
Claims (1)
- CLAIMI A vehicle seat cover which protects the surface of the vehicle seat and the vehicle footwell from dirt and or moisture transfer 2 A vehicle seat cover as claimed in claim 1 made from a general rectangle of a suitable length and width of any fabric to protect the car seat and footwell the cover lends itself to manufacture from waterproof fabric A vehicle seat cover as claimed in claim 1 and 2 made from fabric that is water resistant A vehicle seat cover as claimed in claim 1 and 2 made from fabric that is bonded with water resistant material A vehicle seat cover as claimed in claim 1 and 2 made from fabric that is bonded with water resistant material and lined with fabric 3 A vehicle seat cover as claimed in any preceding claims with an opening at the top end of the fabric to facilitate the attachment of the vehicle seat cover to the vehicle seat using the headrest A vehicle seat cover as claimed in claim 3 with an opening at the top end of the fabric to facilitate attachment of the vehicle seat cover to the vehicle seat using any type of releasable fastening A vehicle seat cover as claimed in claim 3 with an opening at the top end of the fabric to facilitate attachment of the vehicle seat cover to the vehicle seat using the headrest with or without the use of the vehicle seat itself with or without using any type of releasable fastening 4 A vehicle seat cover as claimed in any preceding claims with a further rectangle of fabric made from the same or different fabric to the main cover could be attached by permanent forexanple stitching or any type of releasable fastening for example veicrojjflottom edge of the vehicle seat cover to provide a covering for legs this covering could be secured over the legs and attached to the main part of the vehicle seat cover by any type of releasable fastening A vehicle seat cover as claimed in any preceding claims there could be a pocket attached to the leg covering for the storage of personal items this pocket could be closed by any type releasable fastening 6 A vehicle seat cover as claimed in any preceding claims which can be folded and stored in bag made of any fabric closed by any type of releasable fastening the preferred choice being drawstring 7 A vehicle seat cover as claimed in any preceding claims that can be cleaned by sponging or washing by hand or machine 8 A vehicle seat cover and storage bag could carry a logo of a company brand or sports team A vehicle seat cover as claimed in claim 1 and herein before described with reference to and as illustrated by the accompanying drawings 11 A vehicle seat cover as claimed in any preceding claims made without a further rectangle of fabric attached to the bottom edge of the cover to provide a covering for legs 12 A vehicle seat cover can be used to protect the passenger from dirt and or moisture transfer from a dirty or wet car interior
