Abstract

A device for securing a small animal carrier when travelling in a motorised vehicle comprises a harness arrangement for securing a pet carrier within a vehicle. The harness arrangement comprises a harness encircling the pet carrier and two adjustable restraints 3,5 securing the harness arrangement to a vehicle seat 1.

Small Animal Harness This invention relates to a harness to secure a small animal carrier when travelling in a motorised vehicle When transporting a small animal it is advisable to use a suitable container/carrier (ie.
Cat box), however, this can lead to a number of difficulties. The container/carrier might be too big to place in the foot well of a car. The movement of the animal inside the container/carrier may cause instability. If the container/carrier is in a car, the driver may loose concentration on the road while ensuring the animal is safe. The movement or braking of a vehicle may cause the container/carrier to be displaced if placed on a seat unsecured, possibly causing injury to the animal and distress to the owner.
To overcome these problems, this present invention proposes a multifunctional harness to secure the container/carrier using 2 forms of restraint The harness & restraints of the container/carrier will ensure minimal or no movement.
The harness & restraints can be used on various types of transportation including, buses, trains, ferries, cars, etc The harness & restraints can be used on single or multiple seats (if there is a seat belt female component) Preferably the straps of the harness would be colour coded to ensure ease in putting it on correctly An example of the invention will now be described by referring to the accompanying drawings: - Figure 1 shows the possibility of the container/carrier falling forward due to braking or the movement of the vehicle - Figure 2 shows the possibility of the container/carrier tipping sideways due to the movement of the animal or the vehicle - Figure 3 shows the harness 2 and restraint 3 for a single seat 1 according to the invention - Figure 4 shows the harness 2 and restraint 5 for a multiple seat 4 with a seat belt female component according to the invention A harness 2 is fitted around the container/carrier and tightened to ensure minimal movement. Restraints 3 or 5 are then attached to each side of the harness and fixed to the relevant anchor points and tightened to secure the container/carrier

  1. Claims 1) A small animal harness to secure a suitable container/carrier to
    transport small animals by means of restraints and a harness 2) A harness according to claim 1, that is fully adjustable and encases the container/carrier ensuring correct tension to secure it 3) A harness according to preceding claims, that has two types of fully adjustable restraints
