Abstract

A teething soother made from cushioned material which has a biting end 2 with raised nodules 3 for gum massage and indentations 4 to retain a gel or ointment, a depth guard 5 with breathing holes and a handle 1 with raised grips. The raised nodules 3 may comprise other shapes and the indentations 4 may comprise recessed shapes or rings. The handle 1 may be in the form of a ring.

Description

Teething Soother This invention relates to the soothing of a babies or
child's gum when teething When babies or children begin teething it is difficult for them to soothe the gums once the front teeth have begun to grow. This can result in chewing of the babies or child's fmger resulting in skin damage, chewing of non-specific items such as toys and of difficulty in applying soothing gels or ointments due to biting or inefficient application. The baby or young child will often lick the ointment or gel off of the problem gum area before sufficient time has elapsed to allow the treatment to start To overcome these problems, the present invention proposes a teething soother manufactured from a cushioned material with raised nodules for massaging the gums and indentations that will retain a soothing gel or ointment for prolonged application to the problem gum area.
The invention will now be solely described by example and with reference to the accompanying drawing.
The baby or child will hold the teething soother by way of a handle (1) with moulded grips and use the soothing end of the unit (2) to bite down repetitively. The raised nodules (3) will aid the soothing action by gently massaging the gum area. If necessary, teething gel or ointment can be applied by the babies or child's carer to the soother and this will be retained by the recessed nodules (4). by doing this, the teething gel or ointment will work directly on the affected gum area.
A depth guard (5) will also be included to prevent the baby or child from pushing the teething soother to the back of the mouth. 2.
