Abstract
An illuminating assembly 5 e.g. a low voltage garden feature spot lamp comprises a low voltage electrical light emitting device connected by means to a form of semi-rigid wires 4. The light emitting device may be an electrical light emitting diode (LED) or a filament bulb. The illuminating assembly may be enclosed in a water resistant housing 2 and have a low voltage power source connected to the assembly. One or more illuminating assemblies may be provided and secured by a means to a frame (15 figure 7). Alternatively one or more illuminating assemblies may or may not be provided with a frame and placed close to a feature such as a garden feature fountain (7 figure 5). The semi-rigid wires may be bent so as to position the low voltage illuminating assembly such that the light beam illuminates a garden feature fountain.
Description
Illuminating assembly The invention relates to a illuminating assembly,
where a low voltage electrical light emitting device such as a electrical light emitting diode or electrical filament light bulb is connected by means to a form of semirigid wires, the illuminating assembly is enclosed in a form of housing and made water resistant. The illuminating assembly is discretely positioned close to or onto or into a feature such as a waterfall or fountain or other types of feature, the illuminating assembly is directed towards the feature by bending semirigid wires.
When energized a beam of light emitted from the illuminating assembly illuminates the feature.
Feature lighting such as spot lights are a well known device, using large housings are positioned near to a feature such as a water fountain, but suffer from disadvantages that, they are limited in size so not to be discrete and are often difficult to position very close to a feature.
The object of this invention is to provide a way of discretely positioning low voltage, water resistive electrical light emitting devices very close to a feature, by forming semirigid wires into shape to position and support the electrical light emitting device.
Accordingly, this invention provides a water resistant assembly consisting of an electrical light emitting device preferably an electrical light emitting diode with a medium to narrow viewing angle is used. The electrical light emitting device is connected preferably soldered to a form of semirigid wires preferably solid core single strand insulated wires, electrical resistors may be required to be connected by means into circuit with the electrical light emitting device. A housing is positioned around the assembly but not to obstruct the top of the electrical light emitting device, preferably a water resistive filling may be injected into and around the outside of the housing, a form of sleeving preferably heat shrinkable type sleeving is placed over the housing and only part of the electrical light emitting device and semirigid wires and shrunk to size.
One or more illuminating assemblies may be connected by means into circuit to provide a string of illuminating assemblies.
One or more low voltage electrical light emitting devices and electrical components may be provided in one illuminating assembly and connected by means into the circuit.
A frame in a form of shape preferably a circle shape is provided, one or more illuminating assemblies are provided and secured by means to the frame.
A source of electrical low voltage power is provided by a form of power supply such as a battery or electrical mains supply adapter which is connected preferably with a form of plug or socket type of connection into the circuit to provide electrical low voltage power to the illuminating assembly.
Preferably the illuminating assembly, semirigid wires and frame may be made of metal, plastics material and glass, but it can be instead made of wood or a combination of these materials.
A preferred embodiment of the invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: FIGURE 1 shows a side view of the illuminating assembly with the heat shrinkable type of sleeving 9 removed and part of the housing 2 cut away. As shown enclosed inside the housing 2 is the semirigid wires 4 one or more provided, electrical light emitting device I is connected by means to the semirigid wires 4 at the connection points 3, electrical resistor 8 may be provided to be connected by means to the electrical light emitting device 1 at connection point 3, semirigid wires 4 one or more provided are connected by means to the electrical resistor 8 at connection point 3.
FIGURE 2 shows a side view of the illuminating assembly with heat shrinkable sleaving 9 shrunk into position so as not to obstruct the electrical light emitting device 1 but to give a water tight seal around the electrical light emitting device 1 as well as the semirigid wires 4.
FIGURE 3 shows a side view of the illuminating assembly with the heat shrinkable sleaving 9 cut away to show the water resistive filling 10 placed around the electrical light emitting device 1, housing 2, and the semirigid wires 4. The hashed area denotes the water resistive filling 10.
FIGURE 4 shows a view of the illuminating assembly 5, the illuminating assembly S is positioned by bending the semirigid wires 4. The semirigid wires 4 are held in position by placing items over the top such as rocks or pebbles 6, supported by the semirigid wires 4 the illuminating assembly 5 is held in position. Other items such as rock, soil, cement, sand and shingle can be used to hold the illuminating assembly 5 and the semirigid wires 4 in position.
FIGURE 5 shows a view of more than one illuminating assemblies 5 placed around a water feature effect such as a fountain 7. The illuminating assemblies 5 are positioned and supported by bending the semirigid wires 4 so as the electrical light emitting device 1 faces towards the fountain 7, when energized a beam of light emitted from the electrical light emitting device 1 illuminates the fountain 7. The semirigid wires 4 are held in position using the stones or pebbles 6.
FIGURE 6 shows a side view of the illuminating assembly 5, the electrical light emitting device 1 viewing angles 11, 12 and 14. Viewing angle 11 denotes a narrow viewing angle, viewing angle 12 denotes a medium viewing angle and viewing angle 14 denotes a wide viewing angle.
FIGURE 7 shows a view of the frame 15, one or more illuminating assemblies 5 are provided. Preferably a water resistant glue 16 is provided and placed around the semirigid wires 4 and the frame 15 to secure the semirigid wires 4 into position, bending the semirigid wires 4 into shape to position the illuminating assemblies 5.
FIGURE 8 shows a view of the frame 15, one or more illuminating assemblies 5 are provided and secured by means to the frame 15. The view shows the frame 15 placed around the a water feature such as a fountain 7, items such as stones or pebbles 6 are placed over the top of the frame 15 to hold the frame 15 into position. By bending the semirigid wires 4 the illuminating assemblies 5 are positioned.
