Abstract

Gift wrapping paper in various sizes and formats comprising a continuous self adhesive edging strip (to facilitate wrapping the most common sized gifts) together with self adhesive stickers and self adhesive gift tag. In addition the product will also be available on a roll where a strip of cardboard will be provided to enable the user to cut to the appropriate size when required. The stickers serve as supplementary means for securing the wrapping on an article. The paper may be rectangular or tapering to form a conical wrapper for flowers, figure 5. The gift tag may have an adhesive outer border and a fold-open central portion, figure 6.

Description

1 2421938
Background
This invention suppli a complete gift wrapping product in various sizes and formats to wrap an item without needing to use separate adhesive tape or scissors to cut the paper to the size required.
The Continuous self adhesive edging strip of this invention provides a tactile feel for ease of use particularly for children, the elderly and less dextrous individuals Its sticky edge is not revealed until the protective covering strip is removed which reduces the risk of accidental adhesion.
Statement of Invention
The distinctive features of this invention are: Continuous self adhesive edging strip on the longest edge of single sheets of paper, and for paper supplied on a reel, the winding edge of the paper features the same self adhesive edging strip. A backing strip protects the COntinuous self adhesive edge from the risk of accidental adhesion.
Stickers in either a coordinating or contrasting design to the wrapping paper are used to bind any edges of the wrapped item not adhered by the continuous self adhesive edging strip of the paper.
A cardboard strip accompanies the wrapping paper supplied on reel is accompanied by a cardboard strip which is used to tear off the paper to the required length. This product would be used where the precut sheets are not large enough to accommodate an item.
Advantages Convenience of everything needed in one Productr, with no need to find separate sticky tape or Scissors to cut paper to size.
Economy of using only what you need thus eliminating wastage, as conventional wrapping paper is usually supplied in standard Al size sheets.
Ease of use. The continuous self adhesive edging strip ensures a secure and neat edge where joining the edges of the paper together to wrap an item. Its Protective.backing strip reduces the risk of accidental adhesion.
There may also be benefits in an airport setting where scissors or cutting equipment may not-be available on sale to cut the v'rapping paper to the required size. - - -
Description
Gift wrapping paper product comprising wrapping paper (with its Continuous self adhesive edging strip), coordinating or Contrasting Stickers and Gift Tag Label. The paper is supplied in pre cut sheets in sizes small/meciiumllarge conically shaped (for cut flowers), or on a reel.
The reel wound paper is accompanied by a cardboard straight edged strip which enables the user to tear off the required length of paper, and would be selected where the pre cut sizes are too small to accommodate a larger item to be wrapped.
The purpo of the continuous self adhesive edging strip is to avoid the need to use separate sticky tape, as the adhesive is integral to the wrap on the longest edge of prc or on the winding edge for reel wound paper which has been wound on to its inside cardboard reel. The backing strip stops the individual wrappiIgp.r sheets and the reel wound paper from sticking to itself prior to Customer use As a continuous strip, the join of the paper on the wrapped item is neat and more secure than shorter strips of tape, which would leave some gaps between sections of tape. Pre Cut wrappingpap5[5 are used to select the appropriate size sheet to wrap smaller commonplace gifts such as CD'S. Claims (1)

  1. Claims Claim 1 Pre cut sheets of gift wrapping paper featuring a
continuous self adhesive edge on one of the longest sides.
Claim 2 Folded edges of a parcel wrapped by the paper in claim one not secured by its continuous self-adhesive edging strip are fastened by supplementarY coloured stickers, the non sticky upper face of which matches the design of the wrapping paper making the stickers less visually apparent than sticky tape Claim 3 As claim 2 but-with--the stickers' upper face in a contrasting design to the wrapping paper so as to make them a distinctive design feature.
Claim 4 Wrapping paper supplied on a cardboard reel featuring a continuous self adhesive edging strip on the long edge where the paper is wound onto its integral cardboard reel The-sticky strip is protected by.a backing strip which prevents the paper from sticking to itself prior to customer use.
Claim 5 A stiff cardboard strip 2mm thick by 240mm wide and of identical width to the reel based wrapping paper under claim 4 accompanies the product, enabling its user to select the appropriate length of paper.
Using the cardboard strip as a straight edge to fold the wrapping paper against which-to make-a--sharp fold, the user can cleanly tear off the required length without the need to use scissors or other cutting equipment.
Claim 6 Gift wrapping paper-in a conical shape with one of the two straight outer edges featuring a continuous self adhesive edging strip.
The plain inner surface of the paper is coated with a thin layer of wax making it impermeable to moisture.
The bottom of the-cone-design conceals the stems of cut flowers but the widest, open part of the cone shape displays the flower heads like a bouquet. S S.
Claim 7 Gift Tag Label featuring a continuous self adhesive parallel edging outline strip, the underside of which secures it to a parcel. Its distinctive shape is tailored according -to-the-occasion such as a heart shape to denote love or a tree shape to denote Christmas. The inner segment of the Gift Tag Label folds out to reveal the message greeting. The continious adhesive edge should eliminate the risk of the label coming off the parcel. However if the inner edge (non sticky part) were to detach from the parcel, the outline label shape retained on the parcel would help the recipient identify the source of the loose label, which is not possible to do with a conventional tie on tag.
The inner segment of the gift tag label is joined to the parallel edging outline strip of the Gift Tag Label by a scored strip which gives a crisp fold and indicates how the label-is opened.
