Abstract
A collapsible container made from calendered vinyl foil or flexible PVC is capable of expanding when filled with liquid to produce a stable freestanding form and of assuming a flattened form when empty. The body of the container has a flexible base 4 and two vertical side panels 3, the seams between panels being welded to produce a liquid-tight structure. A circular plastic nozzle 2 is provided for the purpose of filling and emptying the container. An integral handle 1 is provided by means of a slanted hole near a top corner of the container, the edges of which are welded for reinforcement. Once empty and flat, the container can be folded further into a compact state. The container is intended to be used to contain water for the purpose of personal hygiene in the absence of a bidet.

DESCRIPTION
Whether I was at school, college, university or at work I found that going to the toilet was a distressing part of the day. I felt I wasn't as clean as I would like to be, whereas when I was at home I would use a mini shower or bidet to clean myself.
I did not have this luxury once I left my home, therefore I would use a bottle filled with water to wash myself, after which I had to dispose of it. The embarrassing part was coming out of the toilet with an empty water bottle, thus sometimes I would take it in a carrier bag to hide it.
This problem is overcome with the collapsible jug due to its flexible design and its collapsible feature that makes it discrete to use because once folded it easily slides into a pocket or fits into a small handbag. The other benefit is that it holds up to 1 litre of liquid, which is more than an average water bottle.
The collapsible liquid jug can be made from calendered vinyl foil or flexible PVC. All seams are welded to provide a liquid/water tight structure. The collapsible liquid jug expands when filled with liquid into an erect freestanding structure and flattens when empty. The circular plastic nozzle Is welded in between the top end of the two vertical side panels that allows the jug to be filled and emptied with liquid.
The flexible base, which is a separate piece, is welded from all sides to the bottom end of the vertical side panels. Due to the method in which the flexible base is welded, when the structure is empty and flat the base folds inwards in between the bottom end of the vertical side panels. When filled due to the pressure of the liquid the flexible base is depressed down until the base is flattened horizontally pushing the vertical side panels apart outwardly, resulting in an erect and freestanding stable structure.
The collapsible liquid jug has an integral handle in the top end of the vertical side panels opposite to the nozzle for precise pouring action and ease of use. The handle is achieved through a slanted incision, the smoothed edges of which are then welded for reinforcement.
Once empty and flat the collapsible liquid jug can be folded further into a compact state for discretion and storage purposes.
A preferred embodiment of the invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawing in which: FIGURE 1 shows a side view of the jug: FIGURE 2 shows a collapsible view: FIGURE 3 shows the jug when it is full: As shown in Figure 1 the jug comprises of the nozzle [2], the handle [1], two vertical side panels [3] and the base [4].
The nozzle [2] is made from plastic and is large enough for liquid to be poured into it from a tap.
The handle [1] is integrated into the jug and welded for reinforcement; all sides of the jug have welded seams [5].
Figure 2 shows the compact view of the jug. The compact state of the jugis achieved through folding the jug up from the base end to the top; the jug can then be put into a bag or pocket.
figure 3 shows the jug when full, as can be seen the base [4] has been depressed downwards.
The user would hold the handle and place the flat jug, for example, under the tap to fill it with water through the plastic nozzle. This would result in the base depressing downwards as
-
more and more water would enter the enclosed area of the jug, until the sides would be pushed out giving the structure stability. The user could then take the jug into the toilet and place it on the floor until they are ready to use it. The jug would then be used to pour water to clean oneself. Once the jug has fulfilled its purpose the user would fold up the jug and then place it into their pocket or bag ready for the next time.
Claims (9)
