Abstract

A manual or electronic message board which is displayed on top of the VDU 1 of a PC workstation. The message board can be rotated through a 360 degree angle and can be flipped forwards and backwards through a 180 degree angle. The PC Name Tag is made up of display window 3, support arms 4 which allow the message board to flip, component 5 which allows the message board to rotate, base unit 6, clear plastic window 7.

Description

24 1 7597 PC Name Tag This invention relates to a message board display on
top of a VDU, which can be rotated, if desired, and flipped backwards or forwards, if desired. It can be manually operated or electronically.
When a workstation is allocated to anyone, it is hard to know at times, who sits there, what job they do and what team they belong to. People also spend a lot of time trying to make their workstation personal to them by attaching pictures of family, there own names on pieces of paper ate but this makes any To overcome this, the present invention seeks to personalize any workstation to an individual or group by allowing them to display whatever info they wish to display by means of a message board, which sits on top of the VDU workstation & can be manual or electronic if desired.
The advantage of this would be to bring a message board to a workstation and make the work area look professional & informative.
An example of the invention will now be described by referring to the accompanying drawings: Figure 1 shows a PC workstation, Unit 1 the VDU and Unit 2 the hard drive.
Figure 2 shows a PC workstation and the PC Name Tag message board displayed.
Figure 3 shows the PC Name Tag flipped back from a front view.
Figure 4 shows the PC Name Tag flipped back from a side view.
Figure 5 shows the PC Name Tag flipped forward from a front view.
Figure 6 shows the PC Name Tag flipped forward from a side view.
Figure 8 & Figure 10 show the PC Name Tag from both side views when it is in an upright position.
Figure 11 shows the PC Name Tag from a top view and Figure 13 from a rotational top view.
Figure 12 shows the PC Name Tag from a bottom view and Figure 14 from a rotational bottom view.
Figure 15 through to Figure 22 shows the PC Name Tag with different designs of component 3.
Figure 1 shows the PC workstation, as it would normally be displayed - it is not personalized and we are not sure who actually works there.
The PC Name Tag is made up of components labeled 3, 4, 5, 6 & 7 as shown in Figure 2.
Component 3 is the display window.
Component 4 are support arms, which allow the message board to flip back and forward through 180-degree angle.
Component 5 allows the message board to rotate in a 360-degree angle.
Component 6 is the base unit.
Component 7 is the clear plastic window behind which the message will be displayed.
All the above components can be any material, shape, size or colour and be interchangeable.
Figure 2 shows the PC workstation with the PC Name Tag message board displayed. The workstation has been personalized to someone called "Ann Other". The message could have been anything (pictures, memos, notes eta) and in Figure 7 & Figure 9 the message reads that the PC is "Under Repair".
In the example given the PC Name Tag has the same view from the front as from the back i.e. Figure 7 & Figure 9. The message is displayed between two clear windows of plastic. In the electronic version of the PC Name Tag, the display area could be two electronic screens back to back.
The PC Name Tag can be rotated through 360 degrees, Figure 13 & Figure 14, and can also be flipped forward & backward through an angle of 180 degrees, Figure 3, 4, 5 & 6, manually by hand.
In an electronic PC Name Tag, this could be done through a small motor housed in the base, component 6. The electronic version could be connected straight to the mains, be battery operated and could be run through a computer application to display messages, pictures (digital), notes, individual/group performance statistics etc. The rotation could also be controlled through the application as well as the ability to flip back and forward.
The electronic version of the PC Name Tag could also display itself on the VDU screen, unit 1 Figure 2 from within the VDU itself so that it actually formed a part of it lo it rises up from within the VDU screen when the computer is switched on.
The PC Name Tag could also be used by retailers to display prices of their goods and could be sold as an accessory by computer manufacturers.
