Abstract

A farmyard manure spreader, is a trailed agricultural machine with a single axle having two ground engaging wheels which will rotate about an axis. It has a discharge rotor 4, which is driven by a chain drive attached to a tractor's power take off (P.T.O.) shaft. The machine also has a linkage and pushing plate 3 to push the loaded manure into the discharge rotor. This linkage is operated by a hydraulic ram also operated by the tractor's hydraulic system.

Description

24 1 6977 Agricultural Machine This invention relates to an agricultural
machine, which, when connected to an agricultural tractor, can be used to spread, farmyard manure, found in the agricultural industry.
To provide the correct spreading of farmyard manure the invention proposes a rotating rotor driven by the tractors power take off shaft. With this the invention will have a load area where. the farmyard manure will be loaded into the machine. There wilibe a large pushing plate powered by the hydraulics from the tractor to push the farmyard manure into the rotor.
However the rotor of the invention will be designed in such a way as to only take small bites of farmyard manure, to spread out from the machine. With this machine the weight on the tractors rear-wheels and machine drawbar will be maintained but as the machine empties during the operating cycle, the weight will reduce. This may be considered as a safety aid for the maintenance of traction of the tractors rear-wheels with the ground.
The invention will now be described solely by way of example and with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: Figure 1 Shows the whole machine in rear perspective view.
Figure 2 Shows the detail of the discharge rotor as a sectional side view. y
Number 1 (Figure 1) is part of the machine chassis, it must be a triangular chassis, in order to maintain the weight of the machine on the drawbar of the machine and the tractors rear-wheels. This will transfer the weight when the machine is fully loaded and empty.
Number 2 (Figure 1) of the machine is the main discharge hood. This shall have the ability to be moved, to open up the discharge area of the machine. It shall be operated by a hydraulic ram powered by the tractors hydraulics.
Number 3 (Figure 1) of the machine is the main pushing plate which moves from the back of the machine towards the discharge rotor. It is this plate which will push the farmyard manure from the load area to the discharge area within the machine.
Number 4 (Figure 1) of the machine is the main discharge rotor. This rotor will be driven through a chain drive by two sprockets suitably geared at the front of the machine. These sprockets will be driven by the tractors power take off shaft. Also refer to Figure 2 for the drawing of the discharge rotor.
Number 5 (Figure I) of the machine is the main hydraulic ram of the pushing linkage and pushing plate. It shall be operated by the tractors hydraulic system and will push the linkage and pushing plate up to the discharge rotor, it shall also return the pushing plate back to the rear of the machine.
Number 1 (Figure 2) is the primary drive shaft of the machine. It will have the power input connection (P.I.C.) on the right hand end of the shaft, the other end of the shaft will have the shaft bearings and small drive sprocket, Number 2 (Figure 2).
Number 3 (Figure 2) is the main drive chain which connects the two sprockets.
Number 4 (Figure 2) is the main discharge rotor, circular hollow section (C.H.S.).
Number 5 (Figure 2) is the bigger drive sprocket which is fixed to the main rotor drive shaft.
Number 6 (Figure 2) are the bearing carriers for the shaft. Note the two bearings for each shaft.
Number 7 (Figure 2) is the actual throwing plate of the rotor which engages with the manure to throw it out of the machine.
Number 8 (Figure 2) are the chains for carrying the discharge plates on the rotor.
Number 9 (Figure 2) is the six or eight pointed plates which are attached to the chains, in order to bite into the manure and through it out of the machine.
Number 10 (Figure 2) is a coned end of the rotor. This is to allow the rotor to pierce into the whole manure pile as it is pushed into the rotor by the main pushing plate.

Claims (7)

  1. Claims 1. An agricultural machine, which, when connected to an
agricultural tractor can be used to spread farmyard manure (straw & farces).
  2. 2. The agricultural machine according to claim 1 will be driven by the agricultural tractor's power take off shaft (P.T.O.).
  3. 3. The agricultural machine according to claim 1 shall maintain the weight of the fully loaded machine on the machine drawbar and the agricultural tractor's rear wheels. As the agricultural machine is operated this weight shall be reduced as the machine discharges. This can be considered as a safety feature of this machine.
  4. 4. The agricultural machine according to claim 2 shall be fitted with a discharge rotor which will discharge the load in the machine.
  5. 5. The agricultural machine according to claim 1 will be fitted with a pushing plate which shall push the farmyard manure into the rotor, this will be done by a linkage which is driven by a hydraulic ram.
  6. 6. The agricultural machine according to claim one, is a trailed machine with a single axle, having two ground engaging wheels.
  7. 7. The agricultural machine will have a better spread pattern because the rotor, discharging the manure is in a cone shape. The rotor should take little bites of manure and throw it out of the machine more effectively than current farm yard manure spreaders.
