Abstract

A pot type darts case 2 has a helically coiled spring 3 transversely mounted at the bottom of the case. Darts 1 are dropped point first into the case. The pointed end of a dart will penetrate between two adjacent coils of the spring, which exert a gripping force on the dart and retain it within the case. The spring 3 is held in position within the case by retaining bars 4 which are formed or machined as part of the case.

Description

Description
Darts Case This invention relates to a playing darts carrying case.
When darts, a set of three, are carried there is a need to protect the darts from damage and the carrier from injury from the sharp points of the darts.
Darts are normally carried in a case that requires the flights to be detached from stems then stored in a pouch or case that requires a tongue or lid to retain the darts.
Alternatively a vertical pot can be used where the darts are dropped in from the top.
Detaching the flights is time consuming and leads to wear and damage of the flights and there is also a need to reassemble before use.
When using a pot to store darts if the pot is inverted or shaken the darts can fall alit To overcome this, the present invention proposes a pot type case that has an automatic locking device that locks the darts in place when they are dropped in, point first, from the top.
The darts are locked in place by a locking spring or by a locking device in the base of the case that grips the tapered dart point.
The darts can be quickly and safely stored by dropping them into the pot, the pot can then be inverted and shaken without the darts falling out. This eliminates the need to dismantle the flights from the stems, it also eliminates the need for a lid.
The darts can easily and quickly and without the need to reassemble, be retrieved from the pot by holding the case in one hand inverting and lightly tapping in the palm of the other hand, the flight end coming out first.
An example of the invention will now be described by referring to the accompanying drawings: Figure 1 a sectional drawing of the front of the darts case, shows a set of darts locked into a vertical pot type case with darts locked in place according to the invention.
Figure 2 a sectional drawing of the side of the darts case, shows a dart locked into a vertical pot type case with a dart locked in place according to the invention.
Figure 3 a sectional drawing of the side of the darts case, shows a dart locked into a vertical pot type case, in an inverted position, with a dart locked in place according to the invention.
A formed or machined case 2 made from plastic, metal or wood having a locking spring or other locking device 3 in the base. The locking device being retained in place by two locking device retaining bars 4. The locking device retaining bars are formed or machined as part of the case.
