Abstract
A pocket sized applicator of flux for soldering which has a storage vessel 1, containing flux which, when operated disperses flux into the brush bristles 3 through a permeable head 2. A protective cover 4 keeping debris off the flux applicator when not in use. There may be a mechanical means of forcing the flux through the permeable head.
Description
POCKET SIZED FLUX APPLICATOR
24 1 6503 This invention relates to a pocket sized flux applicator.
Flux is a water-soluble jointing compound applied to copper tube to help solder run into the fittings when the tube and fitting are heated. Currently, a tub of flux and a separate brush are used for this. However, due to the environment that Heating and Plumbing engineers work in, the flux tub gets debris such as sawdust, filings and dirt in it. The brush is often lost during a days work or in transit. It can also be awkward to carry the tub and brush when climbing ladders or working in cramped conditions such as lofts.
An objective of this invention is to allow a clean, easy to carry, easy to use flux applicator.
Accordingly, this invention is pocket-sized to allow ease of transport and has a protective cover as a means of keeping it free from dirt.
The applicator may be made of a plastic tube and a permeable head leading to a brush end. A mechanical means of forcing the flux through the head is incorporated within the configuration of the applicator.
A preferred embodiment of the invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawing in which: FIGURE 1 shows a side view of the whole flux applicator.
As shown in FIGURE 1 the applicator comprises of a tube that will contain flux- 1, a permeable head-2 will allow the flux to come out of the tube-1 at a controlled speed. Brush bristles-3 will help the flux get distributed around copper tubes and fittings.
A removable/openable protective cover-4 will keep debris off the flux applicator head-2 and brush bristles-3.
FIGURE 2 shows a top view of the flux applicator head-2, the brush bristles-3 and the head perforation-S, which allow the flux to come out of the tube-1 at a controlled speed and evenly.
Claims (3)
1. A flux applicator including a storage vessel, a permeable head which allows the flux to leave the applicator onto brush bristles which disperse the flux.
2. A flux applicator (as claimed in claim 1) where the storage vessel incorporates a means of forcing the flux through the permeable head.
3. A flux applicator (as claimed in claim 2) where the flux applicator has an openable or removable protective cover.
