Abstract

A distance measuring device 18 comprising: A housing 1 which holds a distance measuring detector (2, fig. 3); a calculating circuit, and laser indicating device (3, fig. 3) to projects indicating laser beams 322, 302 from the housing. The circuit calculates the distance between an object surface 19 to the indicating laser beam 322, 302. The circuit may do such calculations when the laser indicating .device is not switched on. The measuring device 18 may project a measuring signal to the surface of the object and measure its reflection. The measuring signal may be projected in a direction perpendicular to the indicating laser beam(s) 322, 302. Laser indicating beam(s), forming a visible reference line, may be projected traverse to the measuring signals. The measuring signal may be projected from the bottom of the housing, wherein the laser indicating beam may be projected from the side of the housing. The device 18 may have a horizontal indicating device, and it may comprise a removable pedestal (9, figs. 4-5).

Claims (25)

A distance measuring device, comprising: a housing having a Stance Ineasurng detector to determine a distance to at' object surface. a circuit in the housing, and a laser indicating device to project at least one laser beam from the housing, wherein the Circuit calculates the distance between the at least one laser beam and the object surface.

3. The distance neasuring device of claim 1, wherein the distance measuring detector projects a measuring signal to the object surface and detects a reflection of said measuring signal therefrom.
