Abstract

A fishing trolley comprising a fishing tackle box with an upper surface or lid which may also be used as a seat, a handle extending from a region at one side of the box, and two wheels are mounted to rotate about an axis extending along the region of said one side, wherein support legs are provided at said one side and on the opposite side of said box and operable to enable said wheels to be supported above the supporting surface for the trolley. The box, wheels, support legs and handle may be mounted on a frame.

Description

IMPROVED FISHING TROLLEY
The present invention relates to a fishing trolley which includes a storage or tackle box which can also be used as a seat.
Anglers often carry their fishing tackle in a box which can also be used as a seat (a "seat box").
It is known to carry a heavy load by using a separate trolley with wheels to transport the seat box to the fishing area and the seat box is then removed from the trolley to provide a separate seat thus providing a stable seat. Sitting on a seat box still fixed to said known wheeled trolleys would be dangerous and unstable.
Anglers often fish on banks which are sloping or uneven and, on occasions, need to fish with the seal box located in shallow water.
According to the present invention, a fishing trolley comprises a fishing tackle box with upper surface or lid which may also be used as a seat, a handle extending from a region at one side of the box, and two wheels are mounted to rotate about an axis extending along the region of said one side, wherein support legs are provided at said one side and on the opposite side of said box and operable to enable said wheels to be supported above the supporting surface for the trolley.
Preferably the support legs are each adjustable in extent of projection at least beneath the level of the wheels to enable unevenness of ground to be accommodated. Preferably two spaced apart legs are provided extending from said one side and two spaced apart legs are provided extending from the opposite side (i.e. front and rear sides). Preferably each leg comprises a tube or rod preferably with an enlargement or foot at its lower end, which tube is slidable in a passage in the support frame of the trolley and securable, e.g., by screws mounted in the passage walls and engageable with the tube.
It will be appreciated that when the legs are extended downwardly for seating and to elevate the trolley, the wheels which remain attached to the trolley are desirably raised above the support surface or at least to an extent such as not to enable rolling of the trolley.
Preferably the trolley has a mounting frame on which the box is mounted as are the wheels and support legs and handle.
The invention will be described further, by way of example, with reference to the accompanying view which is a perspective view of a trolley with four support legs.
The trolley 1 comprises a generally U-shaped frame 2, when viewed from above, and has bolted to the frame a rectangular fishing tackle box 3 with a curved lid or top 4 forming a seat. The frame 2 has two wheels 5, 6 mounted at the rear side as viewed, i.e. with axes of rotation extending along the rear side of the box 3 in the region of the cross-web of the U-frame, to enable pivoting about the lower edge/corner of the box 3 which provides for good manocuvrability and enables adjustment of the trolley over a wide range of different angles, etc. Two collars 7, 8 extend from the front of the frame 2 and two from the rear (not shown) and each have support legs 9 - 12 slidably and adjustably mounted therein the legs being displaceable along their longitudinal axes upwardly and downwardly. Enlargements or feet 13 are provided at the lower ends to resist penetration into the ground. Each collar 7, 8 has screw members, such as wing-nuts, extending therethrough and engageable with the leg therein to enable adjustment. The seat may be levelled. A telescopic r towing handle 14 extends from the rear of the frame at the same side the wheels are mounted.

Claims (10)

2. A fishing trolley as claimed in claim 1, in which the support legs are each adjustable in extent of projection at least beneath the level of the wheels to enable unevenness of ground to be accommodated.
3. A fishing trolley as claimed in claim 1 or 2, in which two spaced apart legs are provided extending from said one side and two spaced apart legs are provided extending from the opposite side (i.e. front and rear sides).
4. A fishing trolley as claimed in any of claims 1 to 3, in which each leg comprises a tube or rod, which is slidable in a passage in the support frame of the trolley and securable thereon.
5. A fishing trolley as claimed in claim 4, in which each leg is securable by screws mounted in the passage walls and engageable with the tube.
6. A fishing trolley as claimed in at least claim 4, in which each leg comprises a tube or rod with an enlargement or foot at its lower end.
7. A fishing trolley as claimed in any of claims 1 to 6, in which, when the legs are extended downwardly for seating and to elevate the trolley, the wheels, which remain attached to the trolley, are raised above the support surface or at least raised to an extent such as to disable rolling movement of the trolley on said wheels.
8. A fishing trolley as claimed in any of claims 1 to 7, in which the trolley includes a mounting frame on which the box is mounted.
9. A fishing trolley as claimed in claim 8, in which the wheels and support legs and handle are mounted on the mounting frame.
10. A fishing trolley substantially as herein described with reference to the accompanying drawing.
