Abstract

A belt 1 comprises a plurality of tool retaining pockets 4-8 that are formed from a folded web of waterproof material. One pocket 4 includes a sponge which acts as a pin cushion for needles. The belt is of adjustable length and has a quick release buckle. The pockets are of a sturdy construction so that scissors, combs, elastic bands and other equipment typically used for plaiting hair can be safely retained.

Description

Plaiting Belt This invention provides the solution to the problem of the
variety of tools and not enough storage facilities when plaiting a horse's mane or tail.
This is particularly difficult when a horse is fidgeting, young or unused to the procedure.
When plaiting a horse's mane various tools are required including: needles, scissors, mane comb, thread, and elastic bands etc. There is seldom a secure place for all these items without frequently halting the plaiting process.
To overcome the above, the plaiting belt provides a central and safe place for all the basic equipment, which is fitted in pockets on the belt to be carried around the body of the person doing the plaiting.
There are many advantages including: Portable, all the tools etc can remain inside the belt, which can then be rolled up.
Waterproof if left outside or working on a wet mane or tail The material is strong enough to hold the scissors safely but the material is also flexible Prevents the possible danger of lost needles in horse's bedding Pocket sizes vary slightly for different makes of tools Pocket size variance also offers flexibility Belt can be extended to fit most sizes of waist.
Buckle has a quick release mechanism Central sponge feature holds needles safely, not on human body Knowing where the needles are, to avoid loss in stable or yard Scissors pointing downwards and kept in one place.
Plaiting speed is increased dramatically It also has the ability with minor alterations to be used in other fields such as for tools used to groom dogs and cats.
A description of the invention follows with the use of accompanying drawings.
Figure 1 shows the front elevation of the plaiting belt.
Figure 2 shows the rear elevation Figure 3 is the example of the belt ready for use. l
In figure 1 the plaiting belt is shown where no 1 is the webbing which is attached to the material of the pockets and 2 is the buckle to connect behind the back of the person wearing the belt.
Figure 2 shows the back of the belt. The pockets are made as an integral part of the material. Again 1 is the webbing and 2 is the buckle.
Figure 3 demonstrates how the belt would be used. Number 4 shows the sponge, which is fixed firmly into the centre pocket to hold the needles.
The comb, marked number 5, is used frequently so is placed on the right hand side, as the majority of people are right handed, although it is also possible to store the equipment in any way depending on preference. This is followed in the next pocket, marked number 6, with the scissors. These would be held with the handles upper most. Number 7 shows a pocket to hold thread within easy reach of the needles. In the next pocket, marked number 8, this can be used for the storage of elastic bands.
