Abstract
A table saw has a circular blade 12 rotatably extending through a slot in a work table 13, it being possible to pivot the circular blade 12 together with a splitter 14. A blade guard 15 is pivotally attached to the splitter 14 so that it is located above the circular blade 12. A carrier 20 is connected to the splitter 14 and receives a laser generating device 30 which is powered by a power supply member 41 with an electrically connected switch 42. The laser generating device 30 emits a linear laser beam onto the work table 13 in front of the circular saw blade 12, and the laser beam is not covered by debris and powder during cutting of a workpiece. The laser generating device 30 may be movably received in an oval and inclined passage (24, fig. 2) defined in a front end of the carrier 20.
Description
LASER GUIDING ASSEMBLY FOR TABLE SAWS
FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a laser guiding assembly connected to the splitter so as to produce a laser beam on the work table to guide the cutting process.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
A conventional table saw 50 is disclosed in Fig. 7 and generally includes a work table 51 which has a slot 52 with which a miter gauge 60 connected to the top of the work table 51 is slidably engaged. A circular blade 53 is connected to a motor which drives the circular blade 53 a part of the circular blade 53 extends through the top of the work table 51 to cut objects. The user may guide the object to be cut at a desired angle by using the miter gauge 60. In order to cut the object precisely, a line has to be marked on the surface of the object so that the users move the object toward the blade 53 to cut the object along the line on the object.
Nevertheless, during the cutting, debris and powder of the object due to cutting may be coated on the surface of the object and cover the line such that the users has to frequently remove or blow the debris and powder of the so as to cut according to the line on the object. This is a time-consuming task and cannot cut the object precisely. Besides, when the surface of the object is a terrain surface, it is difficult to draw the line on the terrain surface.
The present invention intends to provide a laser guiding assembly which produces a laser beam on the object in front of the blade so that the laser beam will not be covered by the debris and powder during cutting.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a laser guiding assembly for a table saw and comprises a carrier connected to the splitter and a laser generating device is received in the carrier. A power supply member is connected to the carrier and includes a switch which is electrically connected to the laser generating device and the power supply member.
The laser generating device emits a linear laser beam which is marked on the work table and in front of the circular blade.
The present invention will become more obvious from the following description when taken in connection with the accompanying drawings which show, for purposes of illustration only, a preferred embodiment in accordance with the present invention.
BRIEF DESCRIPrlON OF THE DRAWINGS Fig. 1 shows the laser guiding assembly connected to a table saw of the present invention; Fig. 2 is an exploded view to show the laser guiding assembly of the present invention, Fig. 3 is a side view to show the laser guiding assembly connected to the splitter on the table saw of the present invention, Fig. 4 is a perspective view of the laser generating guiding assembly; Fig. 5 is a bottom view of the laser generating guiding assembly, Fig. 6 is a side cross sectional view of the laser generating guiding assembly, and Fig. 7 shows a conventional circular blade saw.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED
EMBODIMENT
Referring to Figs. 1 to 6, a table saw 10 includes a base 11 on which a work table 13 is connected. A circular blade 12 rotatably extends through a slot defined through the work table 13 and is driven by a motor which is installed beneath the work table 13 not shown. The motor and a splitter 14 are connected to a shaft located beneath the work table 13 so that when the user operates a control wheel on one side of the table saw 10, the shaft is rotated and splitter 14 and the circular blade 12 can be pivoted as one piece, the circular blade 12 is co-rotatable with the splitter 14. A blade guard 15 pivotably connected to the splitter 14 by a connection member 151 and the blade guard 15 is located above the circular blade 12 to protect the users from being in contact with the circular blade 12.
The laser guiding device "A" of the present invention comprises a carrier 20 which has an oval and inclined passage 24 defined in a front end thereof and a laser generating device 30 is received in the passage 24. A chamber is defined in a top of a rear end of the carrier 20 and a power supply member 40 is received in the chamber. The power supply member 40 includes a switch 42 which is electrically connected to the laser generating device 30 and the power supply member 40. The carrier 20 has a pair of lugs 21 extending from an underside thereof and two connection plates 22 (Figs. 5 and 6) are located on the underside of the rear end of the carrier 20. The lugs 21 are fixedly connected to the splitter 14 by bolts 23 and the splitter 14 is clamped between the two connection plates 22. The laser generating device 30 is a cylindrical member which includes a flange 31 extending radially outward therefrom, and a control knob 32 is connected to an end of the laser generating device 30. The flange 31is engaged with a periphery of an open end in the carrier 20 of the passage 24. Two side holes 25 are defined in the carrier 20 and communicate with the passage 24. Two adjusting bolts 26 are threadedly engaged with the side holes 25 and are in contact with the laser generating device 30 so that the laser generating device 30 is movable in the passage 24 by operating the adjusting bolts 26 such that the laser beam can be shifted in parallel. The angle of the laser beam can be adjusted by operating the control knob 32.
The laser generating device 30 emits a linear laser beam on the work table 13 and located in front of the circular blade 12. The users may check the laser beam to guide the cutting process precisely. The laser beam is not covered by the debris and powder Rom the object to be cut so that the users can proceed the cutting process by the obvious laser beam.
While we have shown and described the embodiment in accordance with the present invention, it should be clear to those skilled in the art that further embodiments may be made without departing Dom the scope of the present invention. s
