Abstract
A locking device for joining temporary transportable fence panels. The device comprises a back section 8 comprising a lock receptacle and a front section 13 with a lock part. When the receptacle and lock are engaged, the front and back sections 8, 13 encompass end members of the fence panels to secure them together forming a temporary fencing assembly. A key 21 may be used to release the locking device and unlock the fencing panels. The front and back sections may form encompassing apertures to hold the end members of the fence panels. The lock assembly (figure 2, 17) may be held in place by a locking ring and lock nut.
Description
24 1 4034 A locking device for temporary transportable fencing assemblies
Typical building sites and other, that require temporary access for restricted entry, are in the main not necessarily secure and can be subject to easy removal of the fence panels locking means, giving rise to trespass and theft within the enclosure.
The fencing panels in the main consist of end members (usually that of steel tube) having steel mesh of varying size and pattern adequately secured to the end members, such that the whole assembly is an integral panel/unit.
All fence panels are then secured to each other around the proposed area by means of metal pressings and the like secured by screwed fasteners, which are subject to easy tamper and removal.
By way of the following description and drawings the invention seeks to improve on this aspect of security.
Fig 1 Front elevation and sectional plan Fig 2 Exploded isometric view of device Fig 3 isometric assembly Fig 4 Isometric view at final stage Item 5 Fig I are the end members of the mesh fence panels 6.
item 7 Figs 1, 2 and 4 is the locking device and for this description only, manufactured from sheet steel pressings.
An exploded view of the device is shown in Fig 2.
Item 8 Fig 2 is the back section with two formed sections 9 and 10 parallel to each other at both the outer faces, the locking catch 11 with its retaining plate l 2 is attached to the member Item 8 becoming an integral part.
The front section Item 13 Figs 2 and 3 has formed sections l 4 and l 5 which are compatible with the members 9 and l 0 of the back section 8.
A slot l 6 is provided within the front section 13 Fig 2, having a width (represented by dimension "X") and is compatible with the dimension "X" of the lock assembly 17.
For reference the lock 17 is typically commercially available.
The lock assembly l 7 Fig 2 is retained in position to the member l 3 by the lock nut 19 and the locking ring 18, as the threaded bore of the lock nut l9 is compatible with the threaded portion 20 of the lock assembly.
Finally the locking device Item 7 Figs 1 and 4 can now be engaged in position on the end members 5 which will positively secure the fence panels. The requisite number of the locking devices Item 7 will be secured in position around the fence perimeter giving positive locking security, and can as necessary be easily released by the "locks" key item 2 l Figs 3 and 4.
All dimensions and material specifications will satisfy the design criteria. - 2
Claims (2)
1. A locking device for temporary transportable fencing comprising of a back section with lock receptacle and a front section with lock part so that when receptacle and lock are engaged and encompass the end members from two temporary fencing panels renders these panels locked together to form a secure temporary fencing assembly until which time a compatibly key is used to release the locking device and thus unlock the fencing panels.
2. The front and back sections of the locking device as described in claim 1 have formed sections, which provide the encompassing apertures so that when the front and back sections are engaged these apertures positively lock the end members of two temporary fencing panels together.
