Abstract
An adhesive tape cutter able to carry out pasting on a flat surface or an angular edge includes a rolling device 50 provided with a cylindrical roller 51 and an angular edge rolling member 52, (fig 8, 83). The cylindrical roller 51 and the angular edge rolling member (fig 8, 83) can be optionally employed to carry out pasting on either flat surfaces or angular edges by the pressing of two fixing bases 53, (fig 8, 81). The cutter also permits the user to carry out pasting conveniently with one hand by pressing a press plate (fig 7, 66) to operate a tape cutting member 60.

PASTING ON A FLAT SURFACE OR ON AN ANGULAR

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
1. Field of the Invention
This invention relates to an adhesive tape cutter, particularly to one able to easily carry out pasting on flat surfaces or on angular edges with one hand.
2. Description of the Prior Art
As commonly known, an adhesive tape cutter is used to paste an adhesive tape on a wall surface or around a box for packing. A conventional adhesive tape cutter, as shown in Fig. 1, includes an adhesive tape holder I having a grip 2 provided below and an adhesive tape base 3 provided thereon for fitting an adhesive tape roll. The adhesive tape holder 1 is also provided with a cutting device 4 composed of a roller 5 and a blade 6. In using, the roller 5 is pressed down and rolled to draw out an adhesive tape and paste it on a flat wall surface or around a box, and after finishing pasting, the adhesive tape is cut off by the blade 6. Apart from fitted with glass-fiber adhesive tape, the adhesive tape base 3 can also be fitted thereon with reticular adhesive cloth or pasting cloth or the like for use.
The cylindrical roller 5 of a conventional adhesive tape cutter can function to roll and paste an adhesive tape on a flat surface, but it cannot carry out pasting on an uneven surface, such as the inner corners of a wall or the angular edges of a box. In this case, when an adhesive tape is rolled and pasted on uneven or pointed surfaces, the adhesive tape has to be drawn and pasted smoothly by hand, and grease on user's fingers is likely to stick to the adhesive tape and spoil its viscosity, affecting the adhesive effect of an adhesive tape.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
A first ob jective of the invention is to offer an adhesive tape cutter able to carry out pasting on a flat surface or on an angular edge, having a rolling device provided with a rhombic roller and a cylindrical roller, able to paste an adhesive tape on a recessed angular edge or on a flat surface.
A second objective of the invention is to offer an adhesive tape cutter able to carry out pasting on a flat surface or on an angular edge, having a serrated blade assembled with a cutting member, which is provided with a press plate to be pressed by a user's finger for carrying out cutting of an adhesive tape.

This invention will be better understood by referring to the accompanying drawings, wherein: Fig. 1 is a perspective view of a conventional adhesive tape cutter: Fig. 2 is a perspective view of an adhesive tape cutter in the present invention: Fig. 3 is a partial exploded perspective view of the adhesive tape cutter in the present invention: Fig. 4 is a cross-sectional view of two fixing bases of the adhesive tape cutter in the present invention: Fig. 5 is a cross-sectional view of the rolling device of the adhesive tape cutter in the present invention: Fig. 6 is a cross-sectional view of the rolling device of the adhesive tape cutter in a shifting condition in the present invention: Fig. 7 is a crosssectional view of the cutter member of the adhesive tape cutter in a using condition in the present invention: and Fig. 8 is a perspective view of another preferred embodiment of a rolling member of an adhesive tape cutter in the present invention.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED
E M B O D I M E N T
A preferred embodiment of an adhesive tape cutter able to carry out pasting on a flat surface or on an angular edge in the present invention, as shown in Figs. 2 to 7, includes a metallic frame 10, a grip 20, an adhesive tape holder 30, a side cover 40, a rolling device 50 and a cutting member 60 combined together.
The grip 20 is provided under the metallic frame 10, and the adhesive tape holder 30 is secured at the rear side of the metallic frame 10 for fitting an adhesive tape roll thereon, as shown in Fig. 2.
The frame 10, as shown in Fig. 3, is formed with an upright side having a threaded hole 11 in the front lower end and has its front upper end bored with a fixing hole 12 and its upper edge formed with an arc-shaped guiding plate 13 having its opposite ends respectively provided with a positioning groove 14. Further, the frame 10 is bored with an insert hole 15 at a lower intermediate section and provided with a lug 16 with a through hole 17 near the grip 20.
The side cover 40 to be vertically combined with the frame 10, as shown in Fig. 4, has a horizontal pivotal shaft 41 provided at the front end and a horizontal insert rod 42 provided at an intermediate portion, with the pivotal shaft 41 and the insert rod 42 respectively locked in place by a bolt 70. The insert rod 42 of the side cover is inserted in the insert hole 15 of the frame 10, having a torsion spring 43 pivotally fitted thereon.
Further, the side cover 40 has its front end bored with a fixing hole 44 and two positioning grooves 45 respectively aligned to the fixing hole 12 and the two positioning grooves 14 of the frame 10. The side cover is also bored with a through hole 46 facing the through hole 15 of the frame 10. Furthermore, the side cover 40 is provided with a transverse support plate 47 to reinforce the combination of the side cover 40 with the frame 10 and a rib 48 protruding inward transversely at the bottom.
The rolling device 50 to be positioned at the front end of the side cover 4O, as shown in Figs. 3 to 6, is provided with a cylindrical roller 51 at the bottom to be pivotally fitted around the pivotal shaft 41 of the side cover 40 for rotating thereon and an angular edge rolling member 52 positioned above the cylindrical roller 51.
The angular edge rolling member 52 is provided with two fixing bases 53 having their lower outer sides respectively fixed with a support stud 531 protruding outward horizontally to be respectively fitted in the fixing holes 12, 44 of the frame 10 and the side cover 40.
The two fixing bases 53 have their inner sides respectively formed with a slide groove 532 having a fixing block 533 positioned therein. Each fixing block 533 is provided with a fixing stud 534 extending downward to enable the fixing block 533 to slide in the slide groove 532. The two fixing block 533 are respectively engaged in the positioning grooves 14, 45 of the frame 10 and the side cover 40, able to be pressed to force a positioning spring 535 in the two fixing bases 53 to bend inward so as to control the angular edge rolling member 52 to shift its position by means of the front and the rear positioning grooves 14, 45 of the frame body 10 and the side cover 40. Each fixing base 53 further has its upper side formed with a receiving groove s 536 and its upper end bored with a pivotal hole 537. A rhombic roller 54 is pivotally positioned between the two pivotal holes 537 of the two fixing bases 53 by a connecting shaft 541, which has its opposite ends respectively secured on the two fixing bases 53 by a bolt 70, enabling the rhombic roller 54 to turn around the connecting shaft 541. Thus, either the cylindrical roller 51 or the rhombic roller 54 can be optionally employed to carry out different pasting according to practical needs.
The cutting member 60, as shown in Figs. 3 and 7, is a square-shaped frame to be positioned at a lower side between the frame body 10 and the side cover 40. The cutting member 60 has its rear opposite outer sides respectively provided with a stud 61 protruding outward to be pivotally fitted in the through hole 15, 46 of the frame body 10 and the side cover 40. The cutting member further has its front end fixed with a blade frame 62 having a serrated blade 63 secured thereon by two bolts 70 and an insert hole 64 bored in one upper end for one end of a torsion spring 43 to be inserted therein. In addition, the cutting member 60 has a support rod 65 transversely provided behind the blade frame 62 for pasting an adhesive tape thereon temporarily and a press plate 66 extending downward at the rear end to be pressed to actuate the blade 63 to move downward and cut off the adhesive tape. When the cutting member 60 is pressed and moved downward to a preset distance, the press plate 66 will be stopped by the rib 48 of the side cover 40.
Fig. 8 shows another preferred embodiment of a rolling member 80, which is provided with a fixing base 81 having its topside formed with a receiving groove 82 for receiving a conical-shaped edge pressing roller 83 having its central portion formed with a V-shaped recessed groove 84 for facilitating to carry out pasting on protruding angular edges.
In using, as shown in Figs. 4 to 6, the two fixing blocks 533 of the two fixing bases 53 are respectively pressed inward by a user's fingers to slide along the slide groove 532 and force the positioning spring 535 to shrink and bend inward, as shown in Fig. 4. After released from pressing, the two fixing blocks 533 will be respectively and firmly engaged in the front or the rear positioning grooves 14, 45 of the frame body 10 and the side cover 40. Thus, the two fixing bases 53 can be selectably shifted to the front or the rear side of the guiding plate 13 of the frame body 10, as shown in Fig. 6, and hence the cylindrical roller 51 and the rhombic roller 54 can be optionally used to carry out pasting in accordance with practical needs. When the two fixing blocks 533 are respectively fixed in the two front positioning grooves 14, 45 of the frame body 10 and the side cover 40, the rhombic roller 54 of the angular edge rolling member 52 can be operated to paste an adhesive tape on the recessed angular edges in the inner corners of a wall or a box. When the two fixing blocks 533 are respectively fixed in the two rear positioning grooves 14, 45, the cylindrical roller 51 of the rolling device 50 can carry out rolling and pasting on a flat surface, having multiple functions in pasting.
Specifically, the cutting member 60, as shown in Fig. 7, positioned in front of the grip 20 is provided with the press plate 66 at the rear end to be pressed by user's fingers so as to actuate the cutting member 60, which has the two opposite studs 61 serving as pivots, to move downward together with the blade 63 to carry out cutting of the adhesive tape. After the cutting member 60 is pressed and moved downward to a preset distance, it will be stopped by the rib 48 of the side cover 40. When the press plate 66 is released from pressing, the cutting member 60 together with the blade 63 will recover their original positions by the resilience of the torsion spring 43, and at this time, the support plate 47 of the side cover 40 will protect a user from being hurt by the blade 63, convenient and safe in use.
Moreover, the fixing base 81 of the rolling member 80, as shown in Fig. 8, is provided thereon with the edge pressing roller 83 having its central portion formed with the V-shaped recessed groove 84 able to carry out pasting on the outer protruding angular edges of a wall r or a box. By so designing, the adhesive tape holder 30 can be fitted thereon with glass-fiber adhesive tape, reticular plastic cloth, wallpaper or pasting cloth to be pasted on any position.
While the preferred embodiment of the invention has been described above, it will be recognized and understood that various modifications may be made therein and the appended claims are intended to cover all such modifications that may fall within the spirit and scope of the invention. 1 5
Claims (4)
1. An adhesive tape cutter able to carry out pasting on a flat surface or on an angular edge comprising: A frame bored with a fixing hole in a front portion, said frame body formed with an arc-shaped guiding plate on the upper edge, said arc-shaped guiding plate having its opposite ends respectively provided with a positioning groove near said fixing hole, said frame body bored with an insert hole in a lower intermediate portion, said frame body provided near a grip with a lug having a through hole: A side cover threadably assembled with said frame, said side cover bored with a fixing hole and two positioning grooves, said fixing hole and said two positioning grooves of said side cover respectively aligned to said fixing hole and said two positioning grooves of said frame, said side cover also bored with a through hole aligned to said through hole of said frame: A rolling device pivotally provided with a cylindrical roller and an angular edge rolling member positioned above said cylindrical roller, said angular edge rolling member provided with two fixing bases, said two fixing bases respectively having the outer side secured with a support stud extending outward, said two support studs respectively fitted in said fixing holes of said frame and said side cover, said two fixing bases respectively formed with a slide groove in the interior for a fixing block to slide therein, said two fixing bases fitted therein with a positioning spring, said positioning spring able to force said two fixing blocks to be shifted in their position by its resilience, said two fixing blocks able to be pressed and respectively engaged in said front or rear positioning grooves of said frame and said side cover, said angular edge rolling member able to be alternately changed in position: and A cutting member provided at a lower side between said frame and said side cover, said cutting member having its rear opposite outer sides respectively fixed with a protruding stud, said two protruding studs respectively and pivotally fitted in said through holes of said frame and said side cover, said cutting member having a blade frame secured thereon with a blade, said cutting member provided with a press plate at the rear lower side, said press plate able to be pressed to actuate said blade to move downward and cut off the adhesive tape, said side cover provided with an insert rod extending inward horizontally from an intermediate portion, said insert rod inserted in said insert hole of said frame, said insert rod fitted thereon with a torsion spring, said torsion spring having one end inserted in an insert hole bored in one upper end of said blade frame, said torsion spring able to force said cutting member to recover its original position.
2. The adhesive tape cutter able to carry out pasting on a flat surface or on an angular edge as claimed in Claim 1, wherein said angular edge rolling member is a rhombic roller able to roll and paste an adhesive tape on an inner recessed angular edge.
3. The adhesive tape cutter able to carry out pasting on a flat surface or on an angular edge as claimed in Claim 1, wherein said angular edge rolling member is an edge pressing roller having a central V-shaped recessed groove able to carry out pasting on a protruding angular edge.
4. The adhesive tape cutter able to carry out pasting on a flat surface or on an angular edge as claimed in Claim 1, wherein said side cover is provided with a rib extending inward for stopping said cutting member after said cutting member is pressed and moved downward to a preset distance.
