Abstract
A pliable circular collar of varying width and diameter with one roughened surface. The collar which may be made of a plastic material may have one cut through its width to allow the collar to be placed on the ground around the base of a plant. The cut ends of the collar may be rejoined using a clip fastening. The rough surface of the collar acts as a deterrent to pests such as slugs and snails preventing them from crossing the device and thus protecting the plant.

ANTI SLUG COLLAR
The invention relates to a flat circular collar of various size (in terms of diameter and collar width) of which the upper surface is formed of small raised projections of random height (in terms of size, shape, height and /or diameter). The collar would be placed on the earth around the base of a plant and would contain one cut through its width so that a plant stem could pass through the collar. The collar could be fastened back together at the cut to reform its circular shape.
Many plants suffer from attack by pests such as slugs and snails. An object of this invention is to provide a deterrent collar around the base of plants over which pests such as slugs and snails would not cross. It is well known that slugs and snails will avoid material that is sharp and or rough in nature and will not pass over it.
Preferably the whole of the anti slug collar is made of plastic but could be made from other materials.
The collar could be made of any colour.
A preferred embodiment of the invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: Figure 1 shows a plan view of the collar around a plant; Figure 2 shows the underside of the collar; Figure 3 shows a close up of part of the collar upper surface; Figure 4 shows a close up plan view of part of the collar upper surface.
As shown in Figure 1 the collar would be placed on the ground around the base of the plant and would be of varying sizes to cater for different sized plants.
Figure 2 shows the underside of the collar and demonstrates how the collar would be reformed into a circular shape using a clip arrangement once it had been placed around a plant.
Figures 3 and 4 show that the upper surface of the collar would be made up of randomly sized projections (random in terms of height, shape, size and/or diameter) to form a rough surface which acts as a deterrent to pests such as slugs and snails such that they are prevented from crossing the collar and attacking the plant growing within it.
Claims (5)
1. A pliable circular collar of which the upper surface is formed of many randomly sized projections (random in the sense of size, shape, height and/or diameter).
2. A circular collar as claimed in Claim 1 which contains one cut through its width to allow fixed objects such as growing plants stems to pass through the collar and which can be reformed to a circular shape and fastened back together using a clip device.
3. A circular collar which could be of various width and diameter.
4. A circular collar as claimed in any proceeding claim which is made from plastic material, metal or wood or from a combination of these materials.
5. A circular collar substantially as herein described above and illustrated in the accompanying drawings.
