Abstract

Square wall or ceiling tiles, e.g of fired clay, have a three dimensional surface which involves concave - convex surfaces and exist in four types: ridged (Fig 2) saddle (Fig 3) flat and curved (Fig 4) and curved (Fig 5): the tiles may be laid in various combinations to produce continuously undulating surfaces, e.g. as shown by the example of Fig 6.

THREE DIMENSIONAL WALL OR CEILING TILES
This invention relates to a set of 4 square three-dimensional wall or ceiling tiles with a set arrangement of 2 common vertical edge profiles used in a prescribed way.
I have no knowledge of anything similar.
According to the present invention there is provided a set of 4 three dimensional tiles which have a prescribed arrangement of 2 common vertical shaped edges one of which is flat to fit with a conventional flat tile. The face surface shapes of the 4 three-dimensional tiles are prescribed by the combinations of edge profile. The tiles would be produced from fired clay or any cast or mouldable material.
The essential novel feature of the invention is the prescribed arrangement of the flat and vertical edge tile profiles where there is a maximum of 3 possible combinations using the same edge profiles for a square shaped tile and 2 surface combinations are possible for one of the 3 tiles giving a maximum of 4 three dimensional tiles which can then be arranged together in unlimited uninterrupted three dimensional flowing combinations.
The specific embodiment of the invention will now be described by way of example with the fundamental formula for the set of 4 square tiles Figure ( I) illustrates one possible combination of edge profiles.
Figure (2 - 3 - 4 and 5) shows the 4 tile arrangements using the fig. 1 edge profiles Figure (6) shows an example of a simple arrangement of tiles.
Figure (7) shows an example of a simple arrangement of tiles.
Referring to Fig. I the edge profile shown is an equally balanced compound concave and convex curve to produce a continuous flowing line through the tiles.
Referring to Fig. 2 - 3 - 4 - 5 show the 4 possible square tile combinations using the edge profiles shown in Fig. 1.
Referring to Fig. 6 show a combination of tile shapes giving a smooth flowing ripple effect with a rippled edge.
Referring to Fig. 7 show a combination of tile shapes giving a smooth flowing bumps effect within a flat edge to the group of tiles.

Claims (3)

1. A set of 4 three dimensional wall or ceiling tiles made from fired clay or similar mouldable material, the novel arrangement of the profiles and surface shapes of the 4 differently three dimensional profiled tiles when arranged in an unlimited variety of combination using as many tiles as required including any flat tiles required will produce flowing undulating three dimensional wall or ceiling surfaces.
2. A set of 4 three-dimensional tiles as claimed in claim 1 wherein the three dimensional tiles can be arranged in any uncoordinated un-flowing pattem.
3. A set of 4 three-dimensional tiles as claimed in claim 1 wherein the main area of the wall or ceiling could be flat with a small area using the three dimensional tiles in a smooth flowing, three dimensional undulating pattem.
