Abstract

A band that wraps around the sweet spot of a football boot with a coating that increases the friction between a football and the football boot allowing the ball to be struck with greater accuracy. Preferably the band is an elasticised knitted band (1, Fig 1) with silicone strips (2, 3, Fig 1) on the exterior and interior of the band to prevent the band from slipping off the boot and provide the friction between the football and the football boot. The band may have slots (4, Fig 1) to allow studs 8 on the sole of the football boot to protrude through and allow the band to fit football boots of varying stud patterns.

Description
1. The soccer Boot Band is an item of apparel which is pulled over a football boot, covering the lace area.
). The Boot Band has been designed to improve the skill factor and accuracy of players when kicking the football, in particular Indeed ball" and "free kick" situations.
3. The Boot Band is manufactured from knitted elastic approximately 80mm wide.
Each side is coated with continuous strips. The overall length of the Boot Band is approximately 260 mm which is then formed into a cylinder approximately 80 mm diameter with the cut ends joined by machine stitching. Slots are inserted in the band to allow the studs on the sole of the football boot to protrude through.

Introduction to Drawings
An example of the invention will now be described by referring to the accompanying drawings: - Figure 1 shows the Boot Band in isolation indicating the wavy silicone strips on the outer surface and the straight silicone strips on the inner surface. It also shows the slots on the underside for the studs on the boots to protrude through.
It also shows the stitched joint.
- Figure 2 shows the Boot Band fitted over a soccer boot.

Claims (4)

  1. SOCCER BOOT BAND
    Claims 1. The soccer Boot Band can be adapted to fit any football boot of varying stud patterns and formations. When fitted, it covers the main striking area or "sweet spot" of the football boot.
  2. 2. The silicone coating on the outer surface of the Boot Band increases the co efficient of friction between the football and football boot thus allowing the ball to be "spun" or "bent" with greater effect and so enabling the ball to be directed with greater accuracy.
  3. 3. Without the Boot Band, the co-efficient of friction between the composite texture of the materials used in the manufacture of boots and balls is reduced.
  4. 4. The silicone coating on the inner surface of the Boot Band prevents slippage occurring on impact with the football.
