Abstract

This device is an alternative to the standard keyboard. It can be used either instead of the keyboard when using a P.C. or plugged into the back of a laptop and used for the same purpose. It is a small semi-circular designed device based on the T9 predictive text method used by mobile phones. The right hand side consists of the numbers laid out in exactly the same format as a mobile phone with each button containing multi-function options. The middle part contains a small touch pad mouse complete with left and right click buttons. The left hand side of the device consists of a menu, an arrow, a delete and a change button to change the word options. The keypad stores favoured and most used words used to gradually build up a personalised vocabulary for its user.
