Abstract

A lifting device 5 for lifting metal pan scaffold boards 7 comprising an s-shaped hook. The device 5 may be formed from stainless steel. The device may be engaged into a metal pan board 7 by entering the face side hole, preferably one third along the length of the board. The device may then be rotated until it locks into position. The device may then be attached to a lifting eye 4 of a rope 3, and either lifted of lowered by an operative using a gin wheel 2. The device may only be released when the operative performs a reverse process of engagement.

DESCRIPTION
This invention relates to the lifting and lowering of metal pan scaffold boards. The device is constructed of a stainless steel, S1 round bar cold drawn. The unique shape is formed from one piece of steel then the lifting eye is finally secured to the main body of the device. The device (5) can only be engaged into the board (7) by entering the face side hole, preferably one third of the length down the board. The device is then rotated until it locks into position. The device is then attached to the lifting eye of the rope (4) and either lifted or lowered by the operative using a gin wheel (2).
The design of the device ensures it cannot disengage from the board during lifting or lowering operations. It can only be released when the operative performs a reverse process of engagement. The major factor for designing this device is for the safe and easy lifting and lowering process of metal pan scaffold boards, as a simple timber hitch with nylon rope is unsafe and potentially dangerous.
The device has been tested to destruction by Lloyds British and given a SWL of 1 00kgs and is currently undergoing CE approval. The unique shape of the lifting device is the key to a simple, safe, strong and user friendly way of lifting metal pan scaffold boards.

Claims (2)

1. A lifting device designed specifically for lifting metal pan scaffold boards.
2. The lifting device has a unique "S" shape which when attached will not disengage until the operative does so.
