Abstract

A battery powered heat source for use outdoors, preferably in the form of a seat or chair cover 3. The battery may be charged to provide hours of warmth. Preferably the heater only operates when pressure is applied to it thus saving energy and prolonging the life of the battery. The cover may also include a lead 2 and plug 1 for recharging.

EXAMPLE SPECIFICATION
BW01/PM Low voltage heated seat covers This Invention is a device for providing heated seat covers to three specific types of seating used externally within the leisure industry.
During certain external leisure activities (i.e. fishing) body heat is lost whilst seated (or sleeping) in a similar position for long periods of time.
Conventional methods (i.e. thermal clothing) have been developed to prevent a certain degree of body heat loss, but we are with this invention offering to prevent body heat loss and provide a small heat source giving warmth in cold external conditions.
We have developed a Flexible system, that when fitted to the three types of seats can provide heat of approximately 40c giving warmth and preventing essential body heat loss.
This system is powered by conventional 12 volt rechargeable battery power but due to the high tech low current heater element contained within the cover we can obtain these temperatures depending on the three cover sizes for anything up to 50hrs offone battery charge.
The covers will be purpose manufactured as shown in the three figures which will consist of three essential elements, a closed cellular foam, heater element, and silicone waterproof outer carrier.
The invention will now be described solely by way of example and with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: Figure] show cover fitted to seat / box Figure 2 shows cover fitted to seat.
Figure 3 shows cover fitted to sleeping chair 2.
In figure 1 the 400mm x 400mm x 12mm cover 3 is simply fitted to any seat / box, the 1.5m lead 2 is connected to the heater via manufactured heat shrink and is connected to 1 a standard 12 volt plug.
In figure 2 the 400mm x 800mm xl2mm cover 3 is fitted to any chair and shaped with the aid of a flexible seam 4. The 1.5m lead 2 is connected to the heater via manufactured heat shrink and is connected to 1 a standard 12 volt plug In figure 3 the 1800mm x 500mm xl2mm cover is fitted to any bed chair 3, the l.5m lead 2 is connected to the heater via manufactured heat shrink and is connected to I a standard 12 volt plug.

Claims (3)

  1. Claims 1. This is a combination of new technology to offer a 12 volt
battery powered heat source for use in an external environment.
  2. 2. Between 12 and 50 hrs of heat can be generated in one battery charge to give warmth and prevent essential body heat loss.
  3. 3. The heater is only on when under load conditions (ie when pressure is applied) thus saving energy and giving good battery life.
