Abstract

An adjustable stand off bracket for mounting support brackets such as awning supports to a wall accommodates guttering overhang. The bracket comprises a mainframe having a first elongate box section <B>1</B> and a second elongate box section <B>3</B> attached end to end at right angles to each other and an extension frame comprising a first elongate box section <B>8</B> and a second elongate box section <B>11</B> attached end to end at right angles to each other. The first section <B>8</B> of the extension frame is fitted within the second section <B>3</B> of the main frame and the two parts are telescopically slidable. In use the first section <B>1</B> of the main frame is mounted vertically on a wall with the second section <B>3</B> of the main frame and the first section <B>8</B> of the extension frame extending perpendicular to the wall and the second section <B>11</B> of the extension frame extending vertically parallel to and spaced from the wall. The distance of the second section <B>11</B> of the extension frame from the wall can be varied by sliding the first section <B>8</B> of the extension frame axially within the second section <B>3</B> of the main frame.

1 2408994 Adjustable Stand Of Bracket The invention relates to an
adjustable stand off bracket of the type, which includes awning supports, mounted on a secure external wall and may be used to overcome obstructions such as soff't / protruding facade and "uttering.
Similar brackets are well know, but are of fixed construction without flexibility of size adjustment, they suffer from the disadvantage that when they are affixed to the external wall, it is impossible to pre-gauge the obstruction overhang size, so would have to be manufactured on a bespoke basis. Because the Stand Off brackets are frequently mounted at height fixing the brackets square can prove difficult.
An object of this invention is to provide an adjustable stand off bracket, which allows for easy fixing, even if the property construction is unique or incorrect and the "uttering overhang would therefore require a bespoke constructed bracket. As stand off brackets prove difficult to fix at height a combination of slot and hole fixing tabs allows for level installation.
Accordingly, this invention provides an adjustable stand off bracket including an adjustable gutter stand off and the flexibility to mount a variety of mounting brackets allowing for many manufacturers products to be assembled and has adjustable fixing tabs to enable level installation.
The adjustable stand off bracket is manufactured in mild steel and finished through a process of galvanization and powder coating in any RAL or BS colour.
A preferred embodiment of the invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawing which: Figure 1 shows a side view of the whole adjustable stand off bracket.
Figure 2 is a section showing the front elevation of the adjustable bracket and fixing.
Figure 3 shows a plan view of the adjustable stand off bracket.
As shown in figure 1,The adjustable stand off bracket, comprises a vertical, box section mainframe (1), with wall mounting fixing tabs (2a & 2b).
At the upper end at 90' a horizontal box section (3) with adjustment slot (4) on one side face, these two pieces (1) & (3) are supported with a stiffening plate (5).
On the upper face of horizontal box section (3) there is a tapped hole (6) .
The Extension Frame consists of a horizontal box section (8), allowing insertion into the mainframe horizontal box section (3). This section is mitred (g) to allow clearance from joint (10) within the mainframe, in the event of build up of galvanizing, it will not fail. /
Attached to the opposite end of extension mainframe box section (8) at 90' is a vertical box section (11) with one slot (12) and one hole (13) through the front and back face allowing flexibility of awning fixing plates.
Corresponding within the horizontal extension (8) to the mainframe horizontal box section slot (4) is a tapped hole (14) and bolt (15) allowing flexibility of adjustment size and preventing lateral movement.
Protruding through the horizontal box section (3) and tapped hole (6) onto the extension mainframe box section (8) is a bolt (7) which prevents / restricts vertical movement of the extension frame (8).
As shown in figure 2 the upper and lower opposite wall mounting tabs (2a) have single vertical slots allowing for flexible movement when positioning and fixing to the wall before securing with middle two opposite tabs with holes (2b).
Showing in extension front elevation is single slot (12) and single hole (13) as awning fixing plates have variable hole centres.
As shown in figure 3 clearly shows position of vertical restraint tapped hole (6) and bolt (7) through mainframe horizontal (3) onto extension section (8).

  1. Adjustable stand off bracket Claims ( I) An adjustable stand off bracket
    where the slot and bolt combination in the horizontal mainframe and extension arm allows flexibility of sizing when fixing against irregular building size and shape.
    (2) An adjustable stand off bracket as claimed in (1) including slotted wall fixing tabs to allow bracket to be levelled when securing to wall.
    (3) An adjustable stand off bracket as claimed in (1) and (2) where the slot in the vertical extension section allows flexibility of awning mounting plates / brackets.
