Description
1 2408771 LOCK COMPOSED OF" TWO LOCK PIECES CONNECTED BY A
CONNECTION ROD
FIELD OF THE rNVENTION
The present invention relates to a lock composed of two lock pieces and a connection rod extends through the two lock pieces so as to reinforce the structural strength of the lock and simply the molds when manufacturing.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
A conventional door lock 6 is shown in Fig. 6 and generally includes a casing 61 which has a protrusion portion on a top thereof and a tubular portion in which two lock pieces 62 are received in two opposite ends of the tubular portion.
Each lock piece 62 includes a flat key hole for a key (not shown) inserted therein to unlock the lock piece 62. A threaded hole 63 is drilled through the protrusion so to fix the lock 6 to a door defined and a notch 64 is defined through a mediate portion of the- tubular portion fiQr being connected with a latch bolt member 65 therein. The casing 61 is made in one piece so that the threaded hole 63 and the retch 64 require extra machining processes. Besides, the drilling for the threaded hole 63 weakens the structural strength of the copper made casing 61.
The present invention intends to provide a lock that includes a connection rod which extends through two lock pieces and the connection rod includes a threaded hole which is exposed out from the casing. This arrangement keeps the structural strength of the casing and simplifies the molds for manufacturing the lock.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a lock comprising two identical lock pieces each of which has a casing including a protrusion and a tubular portion. A plurality of chambers are defined in the protrusion and communicates with a passage in the tubular passage in which a lock core is rotatably received. Each lock core has a plurality of recesses defined in an outer periphery thereof and the chambers are located in alignment and communication with the recesses. Locking parts comprising beads and springs are received in the aligned chambers and the recesses.
A transverse hole is defined in one of two ends of each of the protrusions and communicates with the chambers so that two ends of a connection rod respectively insert into the transverse holes of the two protrusions. The springs of the locking parts are biased between the connection rod and the beads of the locking parts. A projection portion extends radially from an mediate portion of the connection rod and has a threaded hole defined in a side thereof The two casings contact against two side surfaces of the projection portion. Two driving members are respectively secured to the two lock cores and engaged in an inner periphery of a annular latch bolt member which is sandwiched between the two casings so that the latch bolt member is rotated when either one of the two lock cores is rotated.
The present invention will become more obvious from the following description when taken in connection with the accompanying drawings which show, for purposes of illustration only, a preferred embodiment in accordance with the present invention.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
Fig. 1 is an exploded view to show the lock of the present invention; fig. 2 is a perspective view to show the lock of the present invention; Fig. 3 is a cross sectional view to show the lock of the present invention when no key is inserted in the lock cores; Fig. 4 is a cross sectional view to show the lock of the present invention wherein a key is inserted in one of the lock cores; Fig. 5 is a cross sectional view to show the lock of the present invention wherein a key is inserted in the other one of the lock cores, and Fig. 6 shows a conventional lock.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF TIE: PREFERRED EMBODIMENT
Referring to Figs. 1 to 3, the lock "A" of the present invention comprises two identical lock pieces 1 and each lock piece 1 includes a casing that includes a protrusion and a tubular portion I I which has a longitudinal passage 111 defied therethrough for a lock core 10 rotatably received therein. A plurality of chambers 112 are defined in the protrusion and communicate with the passage 111. Ike lock core 10 received in the passage has a plurality of recesses 101 defined in an outer periphery thereof and located such that the chambers 112 are in alignment and communication with the recesses 101.
Locking parts 12 comprises beads 121, 122, 123, 124 and springs 125, 126 are received in the aligned chambers 112 and the recesses 101, a end cap 127 is overlapped on the spring 126. The locking parts 12 are known in the art and will not be described in detailed. A transverse hole 113 is defined in one of two ends of each of the protrusions and communicates with the chambers 1 12.
One of the chambers 112 of each of the two lock cores 10 receives a set of magnetic lock parts 13 including a lower part 131 and an upper part 134 which is overlapped on the lower part 131. The upper part 134 includes an open bottom which communicates with a space defined in the upper part 134' and the lower part 13 has an open top which is in communication with the open bottom of the Apes part 134. A receiving hole is defined through a bottom of the lower part 131 and communicates with the open top of the lower part 131. A magnetic part 133 is movably received in the space of Me upper part 134 and the open top of the lower part 131, and has a shank on which a spring 132 is mounted. The spring 312 is biased between the magnetic part 133 and an inside of the open top of the lower part 131.
A connection rod 3 is located between the two identical lock pieces 1, 2 and two ends 32 of the connection rod 3 are respectively inserted into the transverse holes 113 of the two protrusions. The two ends 32 of the connection rod 3 each include a plurality of connection holes 321 and pins 4 extend through the proWsions and are engaged with the connection holes 321. The springs 125, 126 of the locking parts 12 are biased between the connection rod 3 and the beads 121, 122, 123, 124 of the locking parts 12. A projection portion extending radially Mom an mediate portion of the connection rod 3 and has a threaded hole 31 defined in a side thereof so as to fix the lock to a door which is not shown. The two casings of the lock pieces 1 contact against two side surfaces of the projection portion. s
Two driving members 14 are respectively secured to the two lock cores 1 and each have a flange on two sides thereof. The two driving members 14 are engaged in an inner periphery of an annular latch bolt member 15 with the flanges engaged with grooves in the inner periphery of the annular latch bolt member 15.
The annular latch bolt member 15 is sandwiched between the two casings so that either one of the two lock cores 10 is rotated, the latch bolt member 15 is rotated therewith As disclosed in Fig. 3, when no key is inserted in the key hole in either one of the two lock cores 10, the beads 124 and magnetic part 133 are located across the rotatable boundary between the lock core 10 and the inner periphery of the passage 1 11. Therefore, the lock cores I O cannot be rowed.
As shown in Fig. 4 and 5, when a correct key "B" is inserted in the key hole in either one of the lock cores 10, the dimples on the surface of the key 'CB" adjust the positions of the beads 121 and the key "B" has a magnetic member which attracts the magnetic part 133 to compress the spring 132 to move the lower bead 131. By the adjustment, the boundary between the lock core lO and the inner periphery of the passage ill are clear and the lock core 10 can be rotated. The rotation of the lock core 10 rotates the annular latch bolt member 15 to lock or unlock the door.
While we have shown and described the embodiment in accordance with the present invention, it should be clear to those skilled in the art that further embodiments may be made without departing from the scope of the present invention.
