Abstract

The liner is moulded from recycled wood or paper . It may be highly absorbent, hygienic and easy to handle. In use the liner may be placed inside a plastic litter tray. The liner may also comprise tabs 1 to help handle the liner, a moulded lip 2 or a raised profile 3 in the base to encourage use.

Description

CAT LITTER TRAY LINER
The invention is a disposable big-degradable moulded cat litter tray liner, which could easily be removed from a plastic litter tray. Limiting contact and contamination.
Plastic and cardboard litter trays used at present are filled with wood pellets, shredded paper, or grit (grey or white fullers earth).
The tray becomes heavy and unhealthy if not emptied enough. The faeces and urine have to be removed with a scoop, which becomes clogged and soiled. Faeces also sticks to the base and sides of the plastic tray, beneath the litter provided Both tray and scoop have to be cleansed daily, sometimes more than once, more often than not the use of several pairs of disposable gloves are used, as well as large amounts of cat litter, where manufacturers recommend 2" depth of litter.
The main advantages of the liner is that it could be removed by taking hold of the protecting tabs that protrude from the lip of the tray liner, which would reduce health risks (pregnant women) be cost effective, and more user friendly.
The liner would be manufactured from recycled materials (wood or paper) highly absorbent, and more hygienic.
The liner would be moulded in the shape of a litter tray (various sizes) the liner mould formed by pulped wood or paper, likened to the lid of an egg boxes carton The description of the moulded tray as shown in fig I would fit into plastic trays already on the market.
Fig 2 shows a plastic tray beneath the moulded liner fig 1.
There are three key features in fig 1.
(1) Tabs that protrude for easy handling.
(2) A moulded lip that fits over the plastic tray to maintain its position when the cat scratches or climbs in or out of the tray.
(3) Raised profiles on the base of the moulded liner to encourage scratching.
There would only need small amounts of cat litter for further encouragement.

Claims (1)

  1. (1) The moulded cat litter tray liner would be manufactured with the use of recycled wood or paper pulped and formed into a liner that would fit existing or new plastic litter trays.
    (2) In the event of recycled materials being unavailable the liner would be manufactured from unused wood or paper.
    (3) The litter tray liner would be robust and absorbent to be used as a free standing product.
    (4) The liner would have moulded tabs as claimed in claim I for easy handling and disposal.
    (5) The base of the liner would have a raised profile to encourage use (6) The rim of the liner would be moulded with a lip to secure it in position when inserted in the plastic litter tray.
    (7) A litter tray liner as herein described and illustrated in the accompanying drawings. Fig I and fig 2
