Abstract
An illuminated book holder comprises a clamping device which enables the holder to be attached to supporting surface, eg the headboard of a bed. The clamping device is mounted at the end of a flexible arm that extends from the main body of the holder. The main body of the holder is of box like construction which fully encompasses the book. The bottom of the box is formed from a transparent panel such that a book can be read when the holder is positioned above the reader. A side wall of the box is hinged to enable access to and/or replacement of the book. Illumination is provided by a battery or mains powered light emitting diode (LED). The clamp has soft teeth to prevent damage of the headboard.
