Abstract

A stand suitable for displaying a suit of full armour comprises: a base 5; an upstanding post 2; a helmet supporting pin 1 adjustably mounted to the top of the post; two upper horizontal cuirass supports 3 fixed to the post; an arm assembly 5(A-H) pivotally connected to each of the upper supports 3, each arm assembly comprising a plurality of articulated links; a lower horizontal support 8 that is movably mounted to the lower section of the post 2 and which is provided with two horizontally movable slide supports 7 and a pair of wing assemblies 9(A,B); and a leg assembly 10(A,B) adjustably connected to each of the wings 9, the legs being adjustably secured to feet 11(A,B) which are in turn secured to the base 5. The stand is able to accommodate different sizes of armour.

Description

DISPLAY STAND FOR FULL ARMOUR.
The invention relates to an adjustable stand to support and display full armour i.e helmet, caress, pauldron and tassel, vambrace, gauntlet, tassel, cuisse, greave, boots.
It will be made of five main components, which when assembled will be a self supporting free standing structure, with arms and legs.
Normally a set of armour has to have a display stand special made for the individual piece. This is often very expensive because it is unique to the individual piece. It is often difficult for a dealer or a collector to find some one to make such an item. Also each stand is often very different and therefore if placed along side each other could look odd.
The object of this design is to have a display stand, which will support and display most full armours i.e. universal. This is achieved by most of the components being adjustable. Also each stand can be exactly the same so as to be uniform when placed together.
Accordingly, this invention provides an armour display stand including a central post, with two fix shortened pieces, with bolts protruding, attached to these bolts are two shaped brackets which pivot. This provides for hanging the cuirass from. From this shaped bracket, seven sections of the arm are attached. All are adj ustable in length can pivot in one or more directions. An adjustable knob is fitted to the top of post to support helmet. An adjustable central piece, which is adjustable vertically up and down the central post and which has two adjustable slides which increase the depth from back to front. On the underside of this central piece, are two pieces which aft fixed and are attached to the two adjustable shaped legs. The legs are attached to feet which have vertical adjustment also The feet are bolted to the base Preferably the stand will be made of wood and can be decorated at the base with metal plates.
A preferred embodiment of the invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawings which: Page B 1/5 Figure 1 shows front elevation showing whole stand.

Detailed description.
As shown in figure 1, the stand comprises a vertical central post 2, In the top of the post, a large pm with ball on top 1 is Inserted to post and is adjustable vertically.
Down from this are two shaped pieces 3 which are fixed and have bolts protruding which a shaped pivotal bracket 4 Is attached. This supports the cuirass. From this pivotal bracket the seven sections of the arms 5 A- H are attached. The sections are either attached to the next piece by either a central pivotal pin or by adjustment to increase length. At the base of the post, a vertically adjustable piece 8 is placed, secure to post by bolt 6. On the top of this piece 8, two adjustable slides 7 are fitted.
These are secured by metal to wood studs with wing nuts] 3. Attached to and underneath this piece 8 are two fixed wings 9. The legs 10 A-B are fitted to these two wings. There is vertical adjustment at this point ie between 9 and to. The legs are attached to feet 1 1 A-B and are also adjustable vertically with the aid of metal to wood studs and wing nuts 13. The feet 11 are bolted to the base 5 with coach bolts 14.
Figures 3, 4, 5, 5A,and 6 shows detail of central piece 8 with wings attached underneath and horizontal slides 7 in the open and closed positions. And
Figure 7 shows detail of each section ol: arm assembly with type of adjustment or movement Figure 14 shows detail of pivotal bracket 4 showing slot in side for adjusting pivot point of arm ie to increase width of shoulders.
