Abstract
A game board for tabletop games, and more particularly, for use in historical, science fiction, fantasy, tactical and strategic gaming systems, for use with counters or miniatures. The game board takes the form of six equal sized hexagons, which are clearly discernable on the surface of the game board in a particular specified configuration. The identical individual game boards can be fastened together using fasteners on the underside to provide for a modular playing surface, and are stackable to facilitate efficient storage when not in use.
Description
Game Board
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
I. Field of the Invention
The present invention relates generally to tabletop game boards and, more particularly, to a game board for use in historical, science fiction and fantasy tactical and strategic gaming systems for use with counters or miniatures.
II. Description of Prior Art
The invention takes the form of a single piece game board incorporating 6 equal sized hexagons adjacent to each other and arranged in the specified configuration, Fig 1.The individual hexagons are clearly discernable on the game board surface by means of linear outlining recessed channels.
The game boards may be stackable and may be securely located one on top of each other by means of linear locating protrusions on the underside of the perimeter wall of the game board, to the upper surface of another game board. See Fig 2.
The game boards may be fastened together using fastenings on the underside of the board. Recesses positioned on each lower underside edge of the board perimeter wall enable the fasteners to be positioned securely, whilst still allowing for the game boards to sit flush with the surface of a tabletop. Fig 3.
The surface of the game board may be textured.
The underside of the game board may be recessed to allow relief detail of a limited height to be added to the surface of each board, whilst still allowing the boards to be securely stacked by virtue of the underside and upper surface perimeter detail.
The game boards provide for a modular system, which may enable players to interchange individual game board pieces to give a variety of configurations to accommodate individual requirements. Example Fig 4.
FIGURE 1 shows top and side view of game board.
FIGURE 2 shows the stackability of the game board FIGURE 3 shows the underside of the game boards and the recesses, which will enable the individual boards to be fastened together.
FIGURE 4 shows how the individual boards can be placed together to provide a modular gaming area. claim
Claims (3)
1. A game board comprising of 6 equally sized hexagons arranged in a
particular configuration (5 hexagons arranged in side to side contact with a centrally positioned hexagon of equal size, thus providing for one free hexagon side) Fig 1.
2. A game board as claimed in 1 above, that can be fastened together using fasteners, with identical game boards to provide for a modular playing surface.
Fig 3.
3. The game board as claimed in 1 or 2, is stackable with identical game boards.
