Abstract

A smoke alarm holder 5 is provided with slots which interengage with projections 4 on the smoke alarm 3. A fork like tool 6 is provided with slotted prongs 7 capable of engaging with the tabs 4 to lift the smoke alarm into position and lock in place with a small turn of the tool 6. This process may be reversed to remove the smoke alarm 3 from the holder 5. The arrangement enables the battery to be changed without the use of a step ladder or chair.

Description

Smoke Alarm Attachment The invention relates to smoke alarms fitted to the
ceilling in the home.
Such smoke alarms are ok untill you have to change the battery most people are ok to stand on a chair or Step Ladder to change the battery, but if the alarm is high up some people might have difficulty.
An object of this invention is to provide an alternative to using a Step Ladder or chair to reach the smoke alarm to change the battery.
Accordingly this invention provides a holding bracket for the smoke alarm box. Also a long three pronged fork to remove the smoke alarm from the bracket on the ceilling.
The bracket tor the smoke alarm can be made from plastic or metal or a mixture of both, same as the three pronged fork that lifts the smoke alarm out of the bracket.
A preferred embodiment of the invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawing in which Figure I shows a side view of the whole smoke alarm bracket and the three pronged exstension fork As shown in Fig I the smoke alarm holder consists of two hole's at 5 for fixing the assembly Fig 1 to the ceilling The slots in the side of assembly at 2 Fig I are for the tabs at 4 Fig 2 to slide into to hold smoke alarm Fig 2 into place.
When the three pronged exstension Fig 3 is lined up with the tabs at 4 Fig 2 by mean's of slots at 7 Fig 3. The smoke alarm Fig 2 can be lifted into position at slots 2 Figl by means of handle 6 Fig 3. When in position the smoke alarm Fig 2 is turned a little to allow tabs at 4 Fig 2 to slide into position 2 Fig I this will hold smoke alarm Fig 2 into the assembly I Fig I To remove smoke alarm 3 fig 2 it is a reverse of the above procedure.

Claims (1)

  1. A smoke alarm holder with slots for the prongs around the smoke alarm to fit into which holds the smoke alarm in the holder. The smoke alarm is lined into place by means of an exstension fork.
    An exstension fork as claimed in claim I with forks at one end and a pad at the opposite end to press the test button on the smoke alarm when the smoke alarm is fitted into the holder the exstension fork can be any length so you can lift the smoke alarm into the holder the exstension fork and smoke alarm holder can be made from a combination of materials
