Abstract

A strobe effect is created be means of an electric motor 1 being fixed by one end/side to a flat surface 5 by e.g. a bar 3 or a retaining ring 4 and rotated 360{ by e.g. a central spigot 2, through which is located and held by a bracket 7 or the body of the housing 8 and held at the opposite point by means of centralised hole 16. UV light source 6 is shown.

Description

Request for Grant of a Patent This invention relates to a UV light strobe
effect.
A ultra violet light is in its nature a discharge lamp and therefore cannot in itself be stroked.
By adding a rotating shutter it facilitates a strobing effect.
A UV light is a well known effect to the entertainment industry, but with the invention of stroboscopic invisible fluorescent paint there is a need for a UV light strobe effect.
I will show two applications for the invention, but the system remains the same.
Two specific embodiments of the invention will now be described by way of example with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: Figure 1 shows the invention added to a UV/light source.
Figure 2 shows the invention added to a UV strip-light.
Figure 3 shows the rotating mechanism/system in Figure 1.
Figure 4 shows the rotating system as applied in Figure 2.
Figure 1: Take a sheet of aluminium the width of which is equal to the circumference of the aperture of the UV light source, and roll it into a tube and fasten it with three rivets along the seem at the uppermost one at either end and one in the middle to fasten. With a separate sheet of the same gage cut a disc the same in diameter as the aluminium tube when it is bent into shape, then mount two grub screws mounting bolts at an equal distance either side of the centre point on the vertical axis with the slots facing the same way. An aluminium bracket of the same gage aluminium is then bent to fit on top. Before fitting the bracket the top and bottom rivets of the tube must be drilled to take the discs spindle which is an aluminium rod/bar the same diameter and to fit the retaining grubscrew bolts on the surface of the disc.
Before locating the spindle and disc in a hole, thus allowing the spindle bent in the shape of a seven to be located in the horizontal retaining hole in the rotating shaft emitted from the motor mounted on the bracket. The system is then fitted to a UV light source by means of rivets.
Rotation is on the vertical axis but lights can be hung in a position offset by 90 degrees to effect rotation on the horizontal axis.

A standard fluorescent light fitting with a UV tube fitted is taken and is boxed in on three sides leaving the tube exposed, the ends of the box extended out one and a half times the depth into which two holes are drilled. The rotating motor is then fitted through hole and fastened to the end of the box. A flat shutter of the same width of the box and the length to allow rotation in a vertical axis is then fastened to the spigot of the motor by means of a retaining ring and eye screw at the top and a screw at the bottom.

16. Rivet drilled at centre to allow free movement ofthe rotating spindle.
17. Locating hole drilled in the mounting piece central and above the shutter to facilitate free movement of the spindle and to allow the rotating motor spindle to be fixed to the bracket.
18. Hole drilled to allow free movement of No. 15.
