Abstract

A snowboard edge protecting cover comprises a tubular rubber or plastics member 3 which grips the entire perimeter edge of the snowboard. The tubular member has a C-shaped sectional area which allows the member to be friction fitted to the edge of the board, and a clip 4, e.g. a quick release clip, is provided which connects the ends of the tubular member together when the cover is in place. The cover protects the edge of the board from damage, e.g. chipping or denting, without requiring straps or ties to hold the cover in place. The cover may also be used to protect ski edges.

Description

SNOWBOARD /SKI EDGE COVER The invention relates to a protective, self-gripping edge cover for snowboards and ski's which includes a quick release clip. The edges of snowboards in particular are susceptible to accidental damage when in transit or when in storage. No equipment exists that is designed specifically to protect the edges from any damage. The cover protects the edges of the snowboard or ski's from being chipped, broken or dented while in transit or while being stored. The object of the invention is to protect the sharp edges of the snowboard or ski's from any damage, which can seriously affect performance or safety. The cover will prevent any chipping or denting of the equipment edges, which can lead to eventual de-lamination of the top surface of the snowboard or ski's in particular. The essential features of the invention is the simple but efficient self-gripping action holding the cover in place over the edges of the equipment without the need for straps or ties. The entire outer boarders of the equipment will be protected when being stored or when being transported to site. The invention is made from a suitable length of reinforced plastic hose or from rubber hose. The edge cover will help retain factory sharpness of the edges and in particular protect the top edge and adjacent surface area A preferred embodiment of the invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: FIGURE 1 shows a cross section view of the cover. FIGURE 2 shows the attachment and release procedure for the cover FIGURE 3 shows amount of edge area protection provided by the cover FIGURE 4 shows simple end clip attachment Figure 1 illustrates a cross sectional view of the cover comprising of reinforced plastic hose attached to the snowboard by the self gripping action as shown. Figure 2 shows the simple attachment and release procedures 2a attachment and 2b release. In Figure 3 it can be seen how much of the edge and adjacent surface are protected around the entire perimeter of the snowboard. Figure 4 shows the end clip attachment used to hold the ends of the cover in place.
