Abstract
A golf practice brace includes a measured length of cord 1 and two balls 2, and a cord toggle 3 slider adjuster 4 to adjust the position of the balls on the cord. Preferably the (3, Fig 3) slider adjuster (4, Fig 3) is limited in its movement outwards by a toggle-stop (5, Fig 4) so that the brace is contained as one piece with no loss of performance. The balls are secured (7, Fig 1) to prevent ball slippage on the cord ends when the brace is in use. The stated use is for putting practice swings each ball being placed under respective armpits of the player.
Description
GOLF I'RACTICE BRACE The invention relates to a golf practice brace for
use by golfers when they wish to practice putting. The brace is portable and can be used by golfers wherever they wish to practice.
The present method of practicing used by professionals and other golfers to achieve the pendulum-like swing required to hole the golf ball is to place a towel across the chest and under the arms while practicing with the putter. Placing of the towel before and/or after the practice session requires assistance and there is loss of control.
The object of this invention is to provide an independent and a flexible system for the golfer, which gives more control during practice putting and allows self-management in its use.
Accordingly, the invention provides a practice brace which includes a measured length of cord, two balls, one ball secured at one end of the cord and the remaining ball secured to the other end. Also on the cord there is a cord toggle slider adjuster and a toggle-stop. fiche brace is placed round the neck and shoulders, the balks hanging over the chest, one ball to the right and the other to the left. While holding the putter, the golfer places one ball under their left armpit, the remaining ball under the right armpit, holding the balls in place with shoulder pressure, then adopts the correct stance to putt and finds the desired pendulum- like swing achieved, giving putt control when the putter is in use. The balls being of a certain weight easily drop to the chest when shoulder pressure is eased, while the golfer remains in the chosen stance to continue practicing without interruption.
Preferably the brace is made of plastic materials, but in may instead be made from a combination of wood, rubber and man-made materials.
preferred embodiment of the invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawing in which: Figure I shows a view of the whole brace.
Figure 2 shows the balls.
Figure 3 shows the cord toggle slider adjuster Figure 4 shows the togglestop.
As shown in Figure 1. the brace comprises a measured length of cord 1 having at each end of its length a ball 2. The balls are secured 6. The cord 1, doubled, is threaded through the cord toggle 3 slider adjuster 4 centre to create a loop at the centre of the cord 1. The toggle-stop 5 is secured beyond the toggle 3 at the other end of the loop.
The cord ends 6 travel through the balls 2 and the cord 1 is knotted 7 and heat treated to prevent movement.
Figure 2 shows the golf balls 2 secured in place.
Figure 3 shows the cord toggle 3 slider adjuster 4 to allow movement of the cord toggle 3 on the cord 1 so that the brace can be adjusted to fit the wearer.
Figure 4 shows the toggle-stop 5 which is positioned to limit movement of the cord toggle 3 slider adjuster 4.
The brace is placed round the golfer's neck so the balls 2 fall to left and right of the chest. 'I he balls 2 are then in place to be fitted under the armpits, left and right.
Claims (7)
1. A golf practice brace has two balls, one ball is secured to one end of a measured cord and the second ball is secured to the other end of the measured cord so that the two balls can after adjustment be suspended from around a golfer's neck with the balls hanging down on the chest so that they can be placed, one under each armpit, and held in that position by shoulder pressure: the two balls being of a certain weight are easily released from that position when shoulder pressure is eased.
2. A brace as claimed in Claim 1 where the measured length of cord includes a cord toggle slider adjuster positioned above the two balls and below the toggle-stop.
3. brace as claimed in ( laim 1 or Claim 2 where the support for the two balls depends on the secured ends of the measured length of cord.
4 A brace as claimed in Maim 3 where a cord toggle slider adjuster which adjustment allows to the brace, left and right.
5. A brace as claimed in any preceding claim including a toggle-stop which limits movement of the cord toggle slider adjuster.
6. A brace as claimed in the proceeding claim which is made from rubber, wood or man-made materials or a combination of these.
7. A golf practice brace when used substantially as herein described and illustrated in the accompanying arawlngs.
7. A golf practice brace substantially as herein described and illustrated in the accompanying drawings.
Amendments to the claims have been filed as follows
1. A method of practicing a golf (putting) swing wherein a brace comprising a measured length of cord with a ball secured to each end of the cord when used by suspending the cord around a golfer's neck with the balls placed one under each armpit and held in that position by shoulder pressure and with the two balls of a certain weight released from that position when shoulder pressure is eased.
2. A method of practicing a golf (putting) swing as claimed in Claim 1 where the measured length of cord includes a toggle slider adjuster positioned above the two balls and below the toggle-stop.
3. A method of practicing a golf (putting) swing as claimed in Claim 1 or Claim 2 where the support for the two balls depends on the secured ends of the measured length of À cord.
4. A method of practlsing a golf (putting) swing as claimed in Claim 3 where a cord slider adjuster which allows adjustment to the brace to left and to right.
5. A method of practicing a golf (putting) swing as claimed in any preceding claim including a toggle-stop which limits movement of the cord toggle slider adjuster.
6. A method of practicing a golf (putting) swing as claimed in the proceeding claim which is made from rubber or wood or man-made materials or a combination of these.
