Abstract

A hand-held suction device for handling a substantially planar workpiece (1), comprising a handle (2), a vacuum source (3), one or more suction members operatively linked to the vacuum source (7, 8), and a guide means comprising one or more rotatable elements (13), wherein the guide means is located at an end of the device distal to the handle, and wherein in operation the rotatable elements are capable of rolling over a face of the workpiece and thereby positioning the device relative to the workpiece such that the position of the device can be controlled by movement of the handle, and wherein the, at least one, suction members are arranged such that in operation they are capable of engaging the face of the workpiece. The hand-held suction device has particular application in the electronics and display industries.
