Abstract

A football boot constructed from a lighter material offering less padding 2, 3 and 4 and protection when striking a ball than a conventional football boot that is to be worn on the wearers favoured foot. The increase in sensation from hitting the ball encourages the wearer to use their weaker foot thereby exercising the weaker foot and leg and improving their foot balling skills. Preferably the football boot is luminous in colour 1 for visual identification.

The description
Football Boot-Training Aid The invention relates to a football boot that is designed specifically as a training aid. The specially designed football boot would be packaged along with a standard pair of football boots. If the football player is predominantly right-footed the extra football boot would be a right football boot, if the player is predominantly left-footed the extra football boot would be a left football boot.
The construction of the specially designed football boot helps a player strengthen their footballing skills on their weaker foot.
The concept of this football boot is based on the premise that, just as most people are either right or left-handed, most people similarly favour one leg over the other. When engaged in the sport of football, this natural physical attribute manifests itself through the way in which players tend to favour one foot over the other in the function of kicking and ball control. However, to improve one's overall performance on a football pitch, it is desirable to build up the level of strength and dexterity exhibited by the weaker foot (i.e., the one not favoured).
The invention would achieve this objective by providing the player with a specially designed football boot which would be worn on the favoured foot and would be constructed from a lighter material offering less padding and protection when striking a ball. The lighter material and reduced padding would serve to increase the sensation of hitting the ball, and would thus serve in what would essentially be an aversion therapy role to encourage the player to use their weaker foot. Over time, then, this action would build strength in the weaker foot and leg and thus help the player improve their overall level of performance.
In addition to the lighter construction, the specially designed football boot would also be finished in a bright colour which would stand in contrast to the conventional boot. This would enable the coach to better monitor the player's action and provide additional instruction if the stronger foot continues to be used.
A preferred embodiment of the invention will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawing (Figure 1) Figure 1 shows a full view of the Football Boot-Training Aid. The football boot itself would still be constructed in such a manner as to provide adequate support 6 and traction 5 on the playing pitch.
As shown in Figure 1, the only significance difference to a conventional football boot would be the lighter material and reduced padding 2,3 +4, and the bright, luminous colour 1 over the whole football boot for better visual identification.
