Abstract
An adjustable removeable gate for a scaffold system incorporates a tube sliding into and within the hand rail/guard rail of a scaffold system. The sliding bar is held in position by two restraining straps with a levelling strap positioned between these two structures. Each of these features has a locking means. In use, after releasing the locking means, the tube may be slid back forming a gap in the scaffold rail, allowing access for the supply of building materials, for example. The tube may then be pulled back out, restoring the integrity of the scaffold rail, and locked into position.
Description
Scaffold errection has a set of guide lines which scaffolders follow to
comply with health and safety One of these guide lines are that he follows set heights of scaffolding according to the different lift height in the build.
It is in the errection of scaffolding to these various heights that has caused concern to the Health and Safety Section.
The problem arising is that on completion of scaffolding a building to complete top lift, trades require to enter the building at ground level to commence the following trades.
ie/ l s' Fixing Plaster 2n Fixing Kitchen Appliances And in the process of carrying these materials into the building bending, stouping, occurs when walking under the 1 st lift of scaffold which is approximatley 1.5 mt high causing many back and lifting problems.
It is not posible to leave out this scaffold in front of the property entrance because of weakening the scaffold structure plus lack of scaffold to carry the boards for a To overcome this important area of health and safety problem The Scaffold Adjustable Removeable Gate was developed.
This adjustable removeable function, is incorporated at the start of the scaffolding process and is removed when required later. To overcome the said problem with no ill effects or weakening of the scaffold errection The scaffold adjustable removable gate is introduced by the scaffolder at the start of lifting the scaffold and sited in front of the entrance of the building It basically consist of a bar of steel or. heavy duty piece of tube that will slide within the die of a standard scaffold tube Two restraining straps} } These three item held in position by lock nut One leveling straps. } The gate tube is slid into one of the horizontal scaffold tube the required. Entrance gape required for the later loading of materials into the building determined. This is held in place within the scaffold bars by the two restraining straps, and the leveling strap put between these, and this is incorporated to maintain scaffold level and fittings to hold other scaffold tight.
We now have a building which is scaffolded to safety requirements but with the adjustable gate which can be removed at a later time in complete safety allowing the gap in the scaffold which allows materials to be carried into the building with the employee keeping a good posture, no bending, no scaffold obstruction It must be noted that only scaffolders with the correct safety gear, licenced, trained in Health and Safety is allowed to errect and dismantle scaffold.
Claims (2)
- The Scaffold Adjustable Removeable Gate 1 An access gate which is incorporated in the errection of scaffold but which at a later time can be removed to allow the earring of material into the building without bending under the scaffold.
- 2 The main body of the removable Gate of strong, thick tube 3 The main body of the gate being held in position by two restraining straps 4 The level of the gate being maintained by the leveling strap Both restaing straps and level strap held in position by lock nuts 6 Both restraining straps and level straps made of Tube-Steel 7 A Gate made of steel which is removable to give access into the property to stop bending under the scaffold when earring material into the property
