Abstract

The securing device has a groove 2 for spooling the excess cord, the edges of the groove being flanges on which there are defined two slots 3. The cord is wound round groove 2 for taking up the excess or slack and fixed via slots 3. The cord is then guided through brackets 4 that keep the device straight upon tension of the cord. Fixed on one wall of the securing device are hooks that attach the device to the curtain tape or pleat (2, FIG.2), the device further adaptable for attaching onto curtain rails.

Description

CURTAIN BOB
Curtains have a Bias attached with strings running through it to allow the curtain to be gathered. The strings are usually tied to secure the gather and left to hang.
When the curtain is removed for cleaning, the string can be tangled and difficult to untie. When the string is left to hang down it can be visible from the side of the curtain.
This invention consists of a curtain Bob secured to the Bias by means of two prongs.
After the curtain has been gathered, the string can then be wound around the bob and the strings are secured through a groove and then passed through 2 brackets to prevent the bob from twisting.
Figure 1 shows in orthographic view the curtain Bob Figure 2 shows in perspective the curtain Bob 1 as it is attached to the Bias 2 via the 2 prongs at the back of the Bob Referring to Figure 2 the strings 3 are drawn through the Bias 2 so that the curtains have sufficient gather.
Referring to Figure 1 The strings are then fixed slot 3 and then wound round groove 2 to take up all the slack. The strings are then fixed slot 1 and passed through brackets 4. When curtains are dismantled the strings can be easily released unwound and drawn-back through the curtain without tangling.
This Bob could be easily adapted to fix onto the curtain track as well as the bias. This curtain Bob could be made from plastic.

Claims (3)

1 A curtain Bob comprising 2 hooks for securing to the bias, 2 slots for securing the string and a groove to wind the string around to keep free from tangle and to keep the string out of site. The Bob also has 2 brackets, which the strings pass through keeping the Bob straight.
2 A curtain Bob as claimed in claim 1 which has been adapted to fix to the curtain track as well as the bias.
3 A curtain Bob substantially as described here in with reference to fig 1 and fig 2 of the accompanying drawings.
