Abstract

The invention provides for a mobile radio communications device arranged for multimode operation with a plurality of radio access technologies, and having a central referencing means such as a system timing and control unit containing data by means of which the plurality of radio access technologies can gain synchronised access to air interface resources of the device, said central referencing means also being arranged to schedule reduced power sleep periods within the device on the basis of unallocated periods of the air interface resources as indicated by the said data.
