Abstract
A swing for use with a wheel chair comprises a conventional A frame swing. Cords or chains support two elongate parallel channel members B which receive the wheels of the wheel chair. Two ramps C are attached to channel members which allow the chair to be rolled into position on the swing. Wheel stops E hold the chair in position.
Description
/ 2402629 Child's Swing for a Wheel Chair User This device enables a
standard childs swing to be adapted to accept a wheel chair and thus give a child who uses a wheel chair the thrill and excitement most other children and adults take for granted.
Ensure that the ramp marked C is hooked onto the swinging element item B. before the wheelchair is brought anywhere near the swing The restraining straps D - which are permanently attached to the bottom legs of the swing frame and the bottom of the ramp C give the ramp and swinging element a solid, stable platform for the wheelchair to be pushed against.
The wheelchair is then pushed up the ramp C and onto the swinging element B until the font wheels come up against wheel stops E, the park brake is then applied. At this point the wheelchair can also be attached to the swinging element B by means of anchor straps.
The ramp C can now be lifted at the top edge and disengaged from the swinging element and placed on the floor pivoting about the end of the restraining straps D. When the swinging activity is over the ramp C can be lifted off the floor and hooked onto the swinging element B. the chair unanchored and reversed off the swinging element, down the ramp C and onto the ground. \
