Abstract

A roulette table layout having additional betting areas for split bets. One of the areas 11 corresponds to a plurality of split bets and the other 12 corresponds to a number of split bets and at least one corner bet. The player will win if any of the numbers covered by the split bets occurs. Area 11 is the same as a Tierre or Short Series or Tires du Cylindre bet. Area 12 corresponds to a Voisin plus one bet which is similar to a standard Voisin, Long or Grand Series bet, but also includes the 1 wheel area.

IMPROVEMENTS IN OR RELATING TO A GAME
The present invention relates to improvements in or relating to a game and particularly to the game of roulette.
According to the present invention there is provided a layout for a game of roulette, on which layout players can place bets, comprising a location on which there is indicated a plurality of split bets in a predetermined combination so that when a bet is laid on the location a player will win if any number in any of the combinations occurs.
Also, according to the present invention there is provided a layout for a game of roulette, on which layout players can place bets, comprising a location on which there is indicated a plurality of split bets in a predetermined combination together with at least one corner combination so that when a bet is laid on the location a player will win if any number in any of the split and corner combinations occurs.
The layout may comprise both a location on which there is indicated a plurality of split bets and a location on which there is indicated a plurality of split bets and at least one corner bet.
The present invention will now be described by way of example and with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: Figure 1 is a schematic illustration of conventional roulette wheel, Figure 2 is a schematic illustration of a conventional roulette layout, Figure 3 is a schematic illustration of a roulette layout according to the present invention, Figure 4 is a schematic illustration of a roulette layout showing arrangements of French bets, and Figure 5 is a schematic illustration of a roulette layout showing the odds for various chip positions.
Referring to figure 1, there is shown the conventional number arrangement on a roulette wheel 1 from O to 36.
Referring to figure 2, there is shown a conventional layout 2 having numbers O to 36 which correspond with, and are of the same colour as, those on the wheel. If a winning betis placed on the l told, l9to36,red, black, odd or even locations 3 the bank pays even money. If O appears, half the bet will be returned. If a winning bet is placed on the 1 st, 2nd or 3rd set of 12 numbers, location 4, the bank pays 2 to 1. If a winning bet is placed on a single number 5 the bank pays 35 to 1. If a winning bet is placed on a horizontal line 6 between two numbers (split bet) the bank pays 17 to 1. If a winning bet is placed on vertical line 7 (street bet) the bank pays 11 to 1. If a winning bet is placed on a corner 8 adjoining four numbers (corner bet) the bank pays 8 to 1. If a winning bet is placed on the line 9 where it adjoins a horizontal line (sixline bet) the bank pays 5 to 1. If a winning bet is placed at any of the 2 to l locations 10 at the end of a column of twelve numbers the bank pays 2 to 1.
Referring to figure 3, there is shown a layout which has all the betting locations of the conventional layout shown in figure 2, but is provided with two extra betting locations 11 and 12. Location 11, which is referred to herein as Tiers, is marked with six split bet combinations 5/8, 10/11, 13/16, 23/24, 27/30 and 33/36. If a winning bet is placed on this location the bank will pay 2 to 1. For a bet of six chips the bank pays chips17 plus the return chip, which equals 18 chips.
The Tiers are arranged as follows: 5/8 x 1 pays 17 to 1 = 18 10/11 x 1 pays 17 to 1 =18 13/16 x 1 pays 17 to 1 =18 23/24 x 1 pays 17 to 1 =18 27/30 x 1 pays 17 to 1 =18 33/36 x 1 pays 17 to 1 =18 The location 12, which is referred herein as Voisin plus one, is marked with five split bets 4/7, 12/15, 18/21, 19/22 and 32/35, together with two corner bets 01111213 and 25126128129. The Voisin plus one bet is made up of the five split bets and the two corner bets. The split bets pay 17 to 1, which may be for example an ú85 payout plus the return of ú5 (ú90). The corner bets pay 8 tot which give a payout of ú80 plus the return of ú10 (ú90). For a bet of ú45 there is a payout of ú90. The number one is added to the voisin in order for the bet to work, thereby giving the bet the name room plus one.
The Voisin plus one is arranged as follows: 0/1/2/3x2 pays 8tol (x2)=18 4/7 x 2 pays 17 tot =18 12/15 x 1 pays 17 tot =18 1 8/21 x 1 pays 17 tot =18 19/22 x 1 pays 17 tot =18 25/26/28/29 x 2 pays 8 tot (x2) =18 The present invention enables a Tier bet to pay 2 to 1 and a Voisin plus one bet to pay evens.
Referring to figure 4, there is shown a French bets layout in which three different bet arrangements are illustrated, the corresponding sections being shown on the wheel. The upper layout 13 shows an arrangement known as tiers du cylinder or a six chip bet. The corresponding section of the wheel is marked 14 on Figure 4. The middle layout l S shows an arrangement known as voisin du zero or a nine chip bet and is marked as section 16 on Figure 4. The lower layout 17 shows an arrangement known as les orphelins or a five chip bet and is marked as sections 18 and 19 on the wheel.
Referring to figure 5, there is shown a layout with chips placed at different locations A-G. Beneath the layout there is shown a table which gives the odds corresponding to each chip location.

Claims (4)

  1. Claims 1. A layout for a game of roulette, on which layout players can
    place bets, comprising a location on which there is indicated a plurality of split bets in a predetermined combination so that when a bet is laid on the location a player will win if any number in any ofthe combinations occurs.
  2. 2. A layout for a game of roulette, on which layout players can place bets, comprising a location on which there is indicated a plurality of split bets in a predetermined combination together with at least one corner combination so that when a bet is laid on the location a player will win if any number in any ofthe split and corner combinations occurs.
  3. 3. A layout according to claim 1 or claim 2, wherein the layout comprises both a location on which there is indicated a plurality of split bets and a location on which there is indicated a plurality of split bets and at least one corner bet.
  4. 4. A layout substantially as hereinbefore described with reference to any one of Figures 1 to 5 of the accompanying drawings.
    4. A layout according to any one of the preceding claims, comprising a tiers location. 1
    5. A layout according to any one of the preceding claims, comprising a cousin plus one arrangement.
