Abstract

An attachment for fastening a hosepipe and spray nozzle to various diameter brush handles. The device is locked securely onto the brush handle 2 via a curved blade line of projecting pointed plastic grips or the like 7 under the splayed end of the end of the elongate base 4, which grips the brush head 1. The attachment is locked securely into position when the snap engaged clips 11,12 are locked onto the brush handle 2 thereby preventing any lateral movement of the device. The hose-pipe may be snap-engaged by C-shaped clips 5,6. The device may also be used to attach a cleaning cloth to the brush head.

Description

J Broom Gna Attachment l The invention relates to an attachment for a
brush/broom or the like.
It is well known to attach brushes to the end of a hosepipe. One known hose attachment comprises a brush fixed to an elongate handle which is suitable for scrubbing and rinsing paths and patios, etc. However, I have found that a hollow elongate tubular handle leads to an inherent weakness in the brush, thereby rendering it unsuitable for heavy scrubbing operations.
The problem with this device is that an existing attachment has to be removed from the hose before the brush can be attached, and the original attachment has to be replaced on the hose afterwards. This type of attachment is expensive to purchase and has a restricted use.
Another known type of hose attachment has the disadvantage of having to provide straps to secure the device to the brush handle. It involves an extra operation and has proved to be ineffective in that the device is not held securely, with the result that the device slips under the brush handle and could cause the spray nozzle to damage the body work of the car.
My invention has a practical use in most homes which enables the device to be easily connected to a brush/broom handle for washing cars, caravans, patios, driveways, garage doors, etc. The device enables water to be delivered directly onto the head of brush/broom, with the benefit of both hands being free for control. After use the brush is available for normal household use, and is not restricted to a single use. There is no need to purchase any expensive attachments; it will be manufactured in plastic.
The invention relates to a locking device attachment for a brush/broom or the like.
The main features of the invention are: A new method of securely locking into position an attachment to a brush/ broom or the like. The design consists of an elongate base, which has a snap-fit fastening means disposed at spaced intervals along the elongate bane, to fasten the brush/broom handle or the like, and the fastening of spray nozzle and hosepipe or the like.
In accordance with the invention there is provided a splay at the end of the elongate base with a curved blade line of projecting pointed plastic grips for fastening to the underside of the brush/broom head or the like. A further locking feature is the spaced curved No brackets on the underside of the splayed end of the elongate base. This prevents any lateral movement when the snap clips securely lock onto the brush/broom handle.
The development of the new locking device system, attached to the ordinary household broom, extends the scope of its usefulness in the home making it possible to use a cleaning cloWwash cloth or the like, covering the full width ofthe broom head and is securely locked in with the snap- fit attachment onto the broom handle, to carry out household tasks of cleaning all smooth surfaces, external windows and frames, floor and wall tiles/wood floor and all external PVC surfaces.
Embodiments of the invention will now be described by way of examples and with reference to the accompanying drawings in which: Figure 1 is a plan view of the brush/broom attachment in accordance with this invention when fitted to a brusb/broom handle or the like.
Figure 2 is a side view ofthe brush attachment Figure 1.
Figure 3 is the underside view of the elongate base and the splayed curved blade line of projecting pointed plastic grips.
Figure 4 is side view of brush attachment with cleaning cloth fitted.
Refernug to Figures 1 and 2 of the drawing, there is shown a conventional sweeping brush having a broom head 1 and an elongate handle 2 extending therefrom. The head 10 has a plurality of bristles 3 displayed on its working faces. A brush attachment 4 comprising an elongate base on which it is fixed along the handle 2 with spaced C-shaped clips 11 - 12 projecting outwardly from the base 4 along its length.
In use a hosepipe 8 having a spray nozzle attachment 9 is retained by Cshaped clips 5, 6. The hosepipe is snap engaged with C-shape clip 5.
When water is fed along the hosepipe 8 a spray emerges from nozzle 10. The brush can therefore be used to scrub and rinse simultaneously. The hosepipe 8 and the spray attachment 9 can be detached easily from the brush so that the brush can be used in the normal way in the home.
Referring to Figures 3 and 4, there is the underside of elongate base and splayed end 4 and the curved blade line of projecting pointed plastic grips 7 which grips the underside of broom head 1. Further curved bracket grips 13, 14 seen the grip of the device when the snap-clips 11, 12 lock onto broom handle 2 and prevent any lateral movement ofthe device.
The cleaning cloth 15 is securely locked into position with the curved blade line of projecting pointed plastic gnps. a
