Abstract

A parking display unit within a vehicle and visible from outside is credited with the appropriate tariff and period required by the user contacting an automated call centre by telephone (mobile or otherwise). The display has a screen to show that parking has been paid for and may have a signal emitting device to speed checking by parking wardens. The system allows the user to extend the period of parking remotely. The unit may have a built in GPS feature so that the call centre will know the location of the vehicle and be able to charge the appropriate parking rate.

Description

Personal Parking Display system 2402254 The basis behind this idea is a
personal paid narkine disuIaY unit, which would be visible to parking wardens whilst parked within a parking controlled area The unit would contain a display screen showing that parking has been paid without the need for the current paper display ticket.
The user of this system would use a telephone (mobile or otherwise) and call our automated call centre and would be able to credit their display system with the appropriate tariff end period required.
The parking display unit would have a built in GPS feature thus allowing the call centre to know the location of the vehicle and thus charge at the appropriate rate for parking as tariff's change from area to area. Also periods of parking permitted change and the system would only allow the maximum stay permissible and would advise users accordingly.
Should the user require a further period of parking (Provided within maximum period), this system would allow users to credit their display system from any location, given the access to a telephone and therefore dismissing the need to return to their vehicle.
This system would operate on an account basis (Prepaid or Chargeable) and would allow companies to receive invoices for parking for one or more units per month anywhere within the world.
The system could incorporate a signal emitting device thus allowing parking wardens to walk past the vehicle (their current ticket issuing units would be adapted to pick up the signal) without thoroughly checking (although randomly would be beneficial) and would speed up the routes of manual checking thus reducing the number of parking wardens required.
As the system would be on an account basis this would reduce the amount of cash currently collected on a daily basis and would reduce the current overheads in the cash system both in processing and collecting.
The systems distinct advantage would be the following: 1. No need for users to carry small change 2. Top up allowed remotely from vehicle 3. Account billing 4. Reduction in use of paper- i.e. less litter 5. Cost saving to current system 6. Reduction in disputes.
PERSONAL PARKING DISPLAY SYSTEM
1. A personal parking Display system including a display unit which can allow users to credit this display unit with a specific period of parking using a telephone cellular or otherwise for an initial chosen period It can also be updated again using a telephone cellular or otherwise to allow the user to extend their initial period of parking without the need to return to the display unit.
2. A display unit as claimed in item 1 can be credited with the period of parking requested by calling an automated call centre via a communication device thus allowing invoices to be raised for parking requested.
3. A display unit as claimed in item 1 incorporates a GPS feature allowing an automated call centre to know the location of the display system to enable charging at the appropriate tariff from area to area.
4. A display unit as claimed in item 1 would have a display screen displaying the period of parking authorised for checking by parking momtors.
5. A Display unit as claimed in any proceeding claim, which is made from metals plastics materials or wood or a combination of these materials.
6. A Personal parking display system as described herein with reference to Figure 1 of the accompanying drawing

Claims (5)

    SYSTEM 1. A personal parking display system including a 6 display unit which can allow users to credit 7 this display unit with a specific period of 8 parking time using a telephone for an initial 9 chosen period, said display unit also being able to be updated again using a telephone to 11 allow the user to extend their initial period 12 of parking without the need to return to the 13 display unit.
  2. 2. A display unit as claimed in claim 1, further 16 operable to be credited with the initial or 17 extended period of parking requested by calling 18 an automated call centre via a communication 19 device thus allowing invoices to be raised for parking requested.

  3. 3. A display unit as claimed in claim 2, 23 incorporating a GPS means allowing the 24 automated call centre to know the location of the display unit to enable charging at an 26 appropriate tariff from area to area.

  4. 4. A display unit as claimed in any of claims 1 to 29 3, comprising a display screen for displaying the period of parking authorized for checking 31 by parking monitors.
