Abstract

A trailer lock is intended for use during loading or unloading of a trailer. Once a trailer is in place for loading or unloading the brake air line is disconnected from the trailer and the lock is engaged to the trailer air coupling and locked in place, preferably by padlock. The trailer lock is manufactured by injection moulding and is made in a bright coloured, preferably yellow, polymer.

THE TRAILER LOCK lS MANUFACTURED BY INJECTION MOULDlNG AND IS MADE lN K. RESIN. STYRENE-BUTADIENE COPOLYMERS (SBC) WHICH HAS EXCELLENT CLARITY, GOOD TOUGHNESS, GOOD STIFFNESS, HIGH SURFACE GLOSS AND WHARPAGE RESISTANCE.
THE LOCK IS VERY BRIGHT YELLOW IN COLOUR WITH BLACK
LETTERING SCREEN PRINTED WITH THE WORDS "TRAILER LOADING" AND RED LETTERING WITH THE WORDS "DO NOT REMOVE" AND BELOW IN BLACK LETTERS THE WORDS SUPPLIED BY JAMES D. J. LUKE LTD., GENERAL ENGINEERS NOTTM. 0115 9255616.
THE BACK OF THE LOCK HAS A LARGE HOLE TO FIX ON TO TRAILER
AIR COUPLING ALSO THE HOLES FOR THE INTERNAL LOCKING
DEVICE OR PADLOCK.
FOR HEALTH AND SAFETY REASONS, IT IS VITAL WHEN A ROAD TRANSPORT VEHICLE l.E. UNIT AND TRAILER WHEN BACKED UP
INTO A LOADING OR UNLOADING DOCK THAT THE PERSONNMEL
DOING LOADING/UNLOADING A TRAILER ARE KEPT SAFE AT ALL TIMES, THE TRAILER LOCK HAS BEEN DESIGNED TO DO THIS JOB.
WHEN THE VEHICLE ARRIVES ON SITE, THE DRIVER IS ISSUEI) WITH A TRAILER LOCK. HE WILL BACK UP HIS UNIT AND TRAILER AT THE DOCK FOR UNLOADING OR LOADING, HE WILL THEN
DISCONNECT HIS BRAKE AIR LINE TO MOVE HIS UNIT FREE FROM
THE TRAILER. HAVING DONE THIS HE WILL ENGAGE THE TRAILER LOCK TO THE TRAILER COUPLING AND LOCK WITH KEY, THE KEY IS THEN TAKEN TO THE DOCK MANAGER FOR SAFE KEEPING. THE TRAILER CANNOT BE MOVED UNTIL THE LOADING/UNLOADING HAS BEEN COMPLETED.
THE DRIVER ON RETURN FOR TRAILER COLLECTION WILL RECEIVE
THE TRAILER LOCK KEY TO REMOVE THE TRAILER LOCK AND
REPLACE HIS BRAKE PIPES TO THE TRAILER COUPLING. À c

2. A LOCK WHICH FITS 98% OF TRAILER AIR COUPLINGS
3. A LOCK WHICH IS STURDY IN CONSTRUCTION
4. A LOCK WHICH IS SIMPLE TO APPLY
5. A LOCK WHICH BEING BRIGHT YELLOW IS HIGHLY
VISIBLE
6. A LOCK WHICH WHEN FITTED CORRECTLY WILL
IMMOBILISE THE TRAILER
7. A LOCK WHICH IS EASILY CLEANED
