A free-standing, mobile light unit (1) has a light emitting element (7), a re-chargeable battery (6) to power in the light emitting element (7), and control means adapted to adjust the intensity and/or the color of the light emitted by the element in accordance with a predetermined sequence or a predetermined control signal.
