Abstract
A photocell as used in for example outdoor lighting plugs into a socket base. A tester is provided for such bases, the tester comprising terminals 6 for engagement with the base and a neon bulb 5 to indicate if the base is operating correctly or producing the correct voltage. The tester may be enclosed in a cone-shaped waterproof housing, and is easy to use since it fits directly onto the base with no need for the base to be dismantled.
Description

PHOTO CELL TESTER
THE INVENTION RELATES TO TESTING VOLTAGE AT A PHOTO CELL
HEAD BASE.
THE DISADVANTAGE OF A PHOTO CELL FAULT IS FINDING OUT THE
VOLTAGE TO IT. THE PROCESS WOULD BE TO STRIP DOWN AND EXPOSE THE WIRES, NO FUN WHEN IT'S RAINING AND DARK, WHERE
THE PHOTO CELL TESTER WOULD BE PLUGGED IN WITHOUT HAVING
TO STRIP DOWN THE BASE. THIS WOULD BE MORE SAFE AND QUICK
THE COMPONENTS OF THE PHOTO CELL TESTER WOULD INCLUDE A
NEON LAMP, BAKER LIGHT BOARD WITH A PRINTED CIRCUITRY BY
THE WAY OF LINKING OUT THE LIVE TO THE LOAD SIDE AND LINKING
TO THE NEUTRAL SIDE OF THE LAMP V1 A PRINTED CIRCUIT. THE
TESTER THEN WOULD FIND THE PROBLEM IF NO LIGHT AT THE
TESTER THEN THE PROBLEM IS SOMEWHERE ELSE IF THE TESTER
LIGHTS THE LIGHT FITTING MAYBE FAULTY OR THE PHOTO CELL
ITSELF.
THE PHOTO CELL TESTER TO BE MADE FROM THERMOPLASTICS AND
HAVE BRASS PRONGS FOR THE SUPPLY PART BEING OF NON
CORROSIVE, THE TESTER WOULD BE MADE IN A WAY SO IT IS
WATERPROOF AND SEALED SO IT CAN NOT BE TEMPERED WITH
GIVING IT A SAFE WAY OF HANDLING THE PRODUCT WOULD HAVE AN
OVERALL ROUND SHAPE WITH A CONE SHAPED HEAD AND WILL
STAND 3 INCHES HIGH AND A BASE OF 3 INCHES.
THE COLOUR OF THE ELECTRICAL TESTING INSTRUMENT WOULD BE
A GLOW IN THE DARK FOR THE CONE HEAD AS THAT IS THE
INDICATOR PART AND RED OR YELLOW FOR THE BASE AS THIS IS A
TESTING INSTRUMENT OR DEVICE WOULD BE USED BY AN
ELECTRICIAN. THE PRODUCT WILL BE EASY TO MANUFACTURE AND TO USE.
THE DRAWINGS WITH FIGURE 1 CONE HEAD INDICATOR PART FIGURE 2 NEON LAMP OR LAMPS FOR THE INDICATOR FIGURE 3 HOLDS PRINTED CIRCUIT AND BE THE BASE OF TESTER FIGURE 4 IS THE BASE OF EXISTING PHOTO CELL WHICH WON'T BE MADE. FIGURE 5 THE SAME AS FIGURE2 FIGURE 6 NON CORROSIVE METAL PRONGS WITH
HOLES SO IT CLICKS INTO PLACE THIS WILL FIT ALL PHOTO CELL
BASES USED FOR OUTSIDE LIGHTING.
