Description

RUBBER AND CARBONACEOUS DEPOSIT REMOVER Ref 001
Description
This invention relates to a compounded product for removing rubber and carbon deposits.
It is well known that carbonaceous deposits and rubber fused on surfaces are extremely difficult to remove with any wet chemical process.
Rubber and carbon deposits can be removed by several methods all requiring mechanical means and extensive man-hours. The methods are not desirable or acceptable in many cases, such as cleaning airplane wheels, heat shields, turbine blades, etc. Sandblasting will remove the deposits but will alter the surface texture. Glass-bead blasting is acceptable in some cases but, as with airline wheels, they become imbedded in the cracks and crevices and are difficult to remove. Bicarbonate blasting works in some cases too, but leaves bicarbonate deposits that are difficult to remove due to insolubility in water. Carbon dioxide blasting is another example but it does not have enough mass to remove fused rubber and carbon.
Hand scrubbing processes are labor-intensive and time consuming.
An object of this invention is to provide a liquid compound that is fast, safe and easy to handle, and capable of removing the fused rubber and carbon deposits off any surface without harming that surface or leaving undesirable residues.
By spraying on the contaminated surface, soaking in a tank, or brushing, the formula quickly and effectively removes the rubber and the carbonaceous deposits off of surfaces, such as airplane wheels, jet protective exhaust shields and others. The excess can be removed with running water or a secondary cleaning process such as high-pressure recirculating equipment or wash tanks normally in any cleaning process. The surface will be free of all deposits and excess cleaner.
The mixture has numerous other applications in maintenance and overhaul shops as it effectively wets, penetrates, loosens and lifts all types of wax, silicone, adhesive, ink, DykemR, grease and oil. It contains no water and will not foster corrosion.
This blend is fast-acting penetrating and has several advantages to other cleaning methods such as: À High solvency equal to or better than hazardous solvents À Excellent wetting capability À Economical; a small amount goes a long way À Low vapor pressure and evaporation rate for maximum surface contact À No ingredients on any undesirable list of chemicals À No ozone depleting ingredients; non-reportable; not subject to regulation or phase-out À 65-70% increase in the output of removing rubber and carbonaceous deposits off of metal surfaces À Substantial savings in manpower and man-hours.
