Abstract

A foot operated push-button 13 is mounted to a floor of a vehicle so that it may be operated to cause a step-wise change in a transmission. The push-button is connected to a controller 11 which receives inputs, via NAND gates 18, 19, from a frizzy logic processor 14. Processor 14 is provided with singles from various sensors R1, R2...Rn and operates continuously to generate either an up condition single on line 15 or a down condition signal on line 16 depending upon the analysis by processor 14 of the prevailing conditions sensed by senors R1, R2...Rn. Actuation of push-button 13 will cause an input to both of the two NAND gates 18, 19 which will result in either an up command single or a down command signal being generated in dependence on the signals from the senors R1, R2...Rn.
