Abstract

A 'Hands-Free" Domestic Telephone System includes a headset 2 not connected by cable to a base unit 1 connected to a main electricity supply 3 and a telephone land line 4. Connection between the headset 2 and the base unit 1 is by radio waves. The headset incorporates an earpiece 5 or two earpieces 7, a microphone 8 and the electronic components making it a receiver and sender of telephone messages. A dialling facility is incorporated in one of a number of ways - part of the headset 9 - on the 14 base unit 1 - in a separate unit 10 connected to the headset 1 by either cable 11 or further radio waves. The headset 1 includes a rechargeable battery charged at point 6. A separate dialling unit 10 or 13 includes a rechargeable battery charged at point 15.

Description

"HANDS FREE" DOMESTIC TELEPHONE SYSTEM I
Background and problem solved
A useful adjunct to the mobile domestic telephone system would be a system that allows theuse of both hands for other domestic chores such as washing-up etc. while using the telephone.
This invention solves that problem.
Essential features It is a domestic headset telephone similar to that used in call-centres but free from connecting wires as with normal mobiles. A dialling facility can be incorporated into the system in a number of ways.
The headset 2 would incorporate an earpiece 5 (or, possibly, two earpieces - optional 7) and a mouthpiece 8 and also the electronic components capable of making it a receiver and a sender. The receiving and sending would be by radio waves as with normal domestic mobile telephones.
The necessary dialling facility could be: i) part of the headset 9 in Fig I - this would mean removal of the headset to dial and would also add to the weight of the equipment on the head, ii) on a static] 4 "base" unit l in Fig 4 which would be plugged permanently into the main electricity supply 3 and on which the headset would rest when not in use to become/remain charged with power 6.
This may mean having to move to another room where the base unit was located to make another telephone call, or, iii) within a separate unit 10, 13 (Fig 2 and Fig 3) which could, for example, be clipped 12 to a belt - this unit could make connection with the headset by either:- a) a cable 11 from the headset to the dialling unit, or, b) a further radio wave system.
In any event the unit would need a static base unit located near a telephone point 4 and main electric supply 3 point for connection, charging with power and storage purposes.
Charging the rechargeable battery in the headset would take place at point 6. Charging the rechargeable battery in the stand alone dialling unit 10 or 13 would take place at point 15.

Claims (6)

  1. CLAIMS 2 1. A home telephone communications system that allows domestic

  2. 2. A system as claimed in Claim I which involves the use of a headset mobile telephone.
  3. 3. A system as claimed in Claims 1 and 2 consisting of an earpiece(s) and a mouthpiece for receiving and receiving messages.
  4. 4. A system as claimed in Claims 1, 2 and 3 with a dialling facility either within the headset or as a separate piece of equipment for clipping e.g. to a belt or as part of a static base unit.
  5. 5. A system as claimed in Claims 1, 2 and 3 with a base unit for storing the headset and for Connecting to, firstly, a telephone point and, secondly, a main electric point for charging purposes. t
